Beverly Hills residents are furious over squatters reportedly taking over an abandoned mansion and turning it into a “party house.”
“They started doing these raging parties through crazy hours of the night,” one neighbor, Fran Solomon, told local station KNBC. “There have been trucks unloading things that we can’t quite identify in the middle of the night.”
“There have been narcotics seen in cars that are at the house. These partygoers are ringing neighbors’ doorbells at two and four o’clock in the morning,” she added.
Speaking with local station KABC, Solomon added that she worries that emergency vehicles (like an ambulance) wouldn’t even be able to get through because of all the party antics and nonsense.
“There’s a roaming pit bull with children around,” she said. “There are people drunk and stoned, wobbling, walking in and out, and then driving the canyons. Does someone need to be killed before the police will do something?”

“It isn’t like people are showing up at 8:00 or 9:00 at night,” another neighbor, Rick, said. “They’re showing up at 2:00 in the morning with loud cars, motorcycles, Ubers. They’re parking everywhere. They block the streets.”
Solomon, Rick, and other neighbors say squatters have been living at the home and throwing parties for months, even going so far as to charge people for admission.
But the Los Angeles Police Department has evidently been unable to do anything about it thus far because the mansion’s ownership status is “complicated,” as KABC puts it.
“It was owned by disgraced doctor Munir Uwaydah, who fled the United States and is reportedly living in Lebanon after he was accused of playing a role in the murder of 21-year-old model Julianna Redding, whom he had dated,” the station notes.
“Uwaydah has also been linked to an insurance fraud scheme. The company, MDRCA Properties LLC, is currently listed as the owner, but they filed for bankruptcy last year. The home is currently for sale for $4.5 million,” according to KABC.

Further complicating the matter is that the squatters have had their driver’s licenses registered to the home’s address, thus effectively slowing down the long and arduous eviction process.
“They claim that they had a showing and that they were able to sign a lease for a year for $25,000, which, on its face, is just ridiculous,” the neighbors told KABC. “You don’t rent that kind of house for that.”
“It should be $25,000 a month. We actually got a copy of the lease, and the names on the lease are fictitious. Email addresses don’t exist. Phones disconnected,” they added.
Solomon, who rents the home she owns to somebody else, called the situation heartbreaking.
“We rented in good faith, and they rented in good faith and here they’re in this situation where they are hiring an armed security guard to protect them and their family,” she said. “That’s how concerned our tenant is for their safety.”
Rick for his part is hopeful that the squatters are evicted soon now that the City Attorney’s Office is reportedly involved, though he admits it could still take months — something Solomon doesn’t like.
“This is a very affluent area, paying exorbitant taxes and we can’t seem to get the proper response from the LAPD to close this down,” she said. “The law-abiding citizens aren’t getting protection from criminals that have taken over a home that doesn’t belong to them.”

The squatters aren’t just affecting regular Beverly Hills residents — they’re also affecting celebrities.
“Among the residents of the affluent Beverly Crest neighborhood are singer John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen, Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, and Entourage and Ballers producer Steve Levinson – while LA Lakers star [LeBron] James is currently building his dream home a stone’s throw from the squat house,” according to the Daily Mail.
Furthermore, James’ house manager said that he’s had to post security guards outside the home 24/7 because of the parties.
“‘I’ve heard from my security team up there about all the crazy cars, crazy parties at night, how we’re not able to get into our property sometimes because they’re blocking the street with their cars, and just the nuisance at night with the loud music and people floating out to the streets,” he said.
“It’s one of the reasons we have security 24/7. Otherwise there’s no need for me to have security there 24/7 because it’s just a construction site,” he added.
