Biden admits he was overthrown, mentions one name

President Biden sat down in a lovefest interview with CBS News’ Bob Costa that aired on Sunday and spoke about why he dropped out of the presidential race, essentially admitting that he was overthrown.

After saying his “Democratic colleagues” feared he would hurt the party down the ballot, he named only one of these colleagues: Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

“The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire,” the lame-duck president replied.

“But what happened was, a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was gonna hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic,” he continued. “And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say, why did — and I thought it’d be a real distraction.”

While naming Pelosi, Biden refrained from directly blaming the former speaker for orchestrating the soft coup that forced him out of the race.

Pelosi has denied being “the leader of any pressure [campaign],” but she told CNN anchor Jake Tapper last week that she still has not spoken to Biden since he decided to step down.

“He knows I love him,” she added.

At the same time, she all but rubbed salt in an open wound when she criticized his operation in an interview with the New Yorker.

“Just a little background, I’ve never been that impressed with his political operation,” Pelosi said. “They won the White House. Bravo. But my concern was this ain’t happening, and we have to make a decision for this to happen. The President has to make the decision for that to happen.”

She preceded the knife twist with a declaration of love and proclaiming that Biden has “been a fantastic president.”

When CNN propagandist Dana Bash asked Pelosi earlier this month if her relationship with Biden was okay, the Democrat replied, “You’d have to ask him. But I hope so.”

Aside from Pelosi, former President Barack Obama’s name is frequently mentioned as being central in jettisoning the 81-year-old cognitively challenged president.

Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh cited a senior Washington official to report that Obama threatened Biden with the 25th Amendment, telling his old pal that he had “Kamala’s approval” to invoke the measure.

“I went over [reports] this week with a senior official in Washington who helped me fashion an account of a White House in complete disarray,” Hersh said. “Obama called Biden after breakfast [on July 20] and said, ‘Here’s the deal. We have Kamala’s approval to invoke the 25th Amendment.'”

In addition to Pelosi’s participation, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries were reportedly involved as well — given recent developments, it’s fair to ask if Jeffries is anything more than a figurehead speaker, with Pelosi pulling the strings behind the curtain.
