Biden lets military info slip during fawning CNN interview, drawing backlash

President Joe Biden’s America-last approach to governing slipped out during a CNN interview sparking backlash and concerns: “Does Biden not care that our adversaries in China are listening?”

For over 16 months, the current administration has engaged in a proxy war with Russia over the invasion of Ukraine, supplying the defending nation with evermore advanced military support. Promising M1 Abrams tanks, F-16 fighter jets and now controversial cluster bombs, Biden revealed the impact his escalating support for the eastern European nation was having on America’s own military preparedness.

“This is a war relating to munitions. And they’re running out of that ammunition, and we’re low on it,” he stunningly admitted to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria during a recent sit-down interview.

“And so, what I finally did, I took the recommendation of the Defense Department to — not permanently — but to allow for this transition period while we get more 155 weapons, these shells, for the Ukrainians,” Biden continued, justifying his move to provide Ukraine with cluster bombs.

Conservative communicator Steve Guest was among those calling out this latest gaffe related to the state of the U.S. military as he boiled the remark down, “Joe Biden broadcasting to the world that the US is low on 155mm shells. Moron. Does Biden not care that our adversaries in China are listening?”

What the president does or does not care about is debatable after his unique brand of humor included his stating during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, “I was just thinking, uh, uh, anyway…I started off without you, and I sold a lot of state secrets and a lot of very important things that we shared.”

The joke, as it seemed, remained on the American people as the investigation into the Biden family’s alleged criminal bribery has produced increasingly damning accusations. Meanwhile, the president was also bragging about the elimination of America’s remaining stockpile of chemical weapons.

“Today, I am proud to announce that the United States has safely destroyed the final munition in that stockpile,” a statement said Friday, “bringing us one step closer to a world free from the horrors of chemical weapons.”

Other political commentators put the recent admissions from the president in perspective, including political operative Logan Dobson who said, “love when the president of America goes on CNN to tell everyone we’re low on ammo.”

If the ends in this scenario include a Ukrainian victory over Russia, Ian Miles Cheong pointed, out these means don’t appear justified as “now that the cat’s out of the bag, one must ask whether continued support of Ukraine’s military is even feasible as the conflict rages on.”

As the backlash poured in, the White House deployed an official to walk back the president’s comment, and Fox News Digital was told in an email, “The military has specific requirements for the numbers of weapons systems and ammunition we maintain in our reserves in case of contingencies or military conflict. Everything we send to Ukraine is in excess of that. So, the U.S. is not running out of ammunition ourselves.”
