President Joe Biden is “seething” over Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s decision to also throw him under the bus, according to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
“Tonight, President Biden is in isolation, as he’s fighting off symptoms from COVID-19,” she said late Friday. “But he’s also on isolation in the figurative sense, as he is now fighting off new calls from his own party to get out of the 2024 race.”
“The party that Biden has devoted his life to is unleashing a new and really public effort to push him out of challenging Donald Trump for the White House. A slew of House Democrats have joined two more prominent Democratic senators tonight, in calling for Biden to step aside,” she added.
And stunningly, Pelosi appears to be behind much of it.
“All of it, we are told, has President Biden seething, tonight, with much of his anger directed at Nancy Pelosi,” Collins continued. “That’s because some of the names that are calling for him to drop out of the race are her close allies.”
One such ally is Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who reportedly penned a letter to President Biden this week asking him to “step aside.”
“Simply put, your candidacy is on a trajectory to lose the White House and potentially impact crucial House and Senate races down ballot,” she wrote. “It is for these reasons that I urge you to step aside from our Party’s nomination to allow another Democratic candidate to compete against and beat Donald Trump in the November election.”
She went on to trash-talk former President Donald Trump, who at the moment is poised to win the 2024 race.
“We know that Donald Trump is unfit to be president,” she claimed. “He incited a riot to overturn the election. He posted in his own words that he intends to terminate parts of the US constitution if elected president. It is essential for the American people that he not be successful in his quest for the presidency.”
Collins’s report came hours after Politico reported that Pelosi has privately expressed support for an open convention so that a new Democrat nominee may be chosen.
“In a meeting with fellow California Democrats last week, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi stressed the need for an open process to choose the party’s next nominee if President Joe Biden steps aside, in an effort to avoid the appearance of a Kamala Harris coronation,” Politico reported.
“The discussion in that meeting of the California delegation, which includes 40 members, took place in the Capitol on July 10, at least partly focused on the complicated next steps for the Democratic Party if Biden left the ticket. And they specifically talked about the potential political downsides of party elites quickly crowning the vice president as the next nominee,” the report continued.
A separate report from The Guardian revealed that “Pelosi has taken a prominent role in passing messages from House Democrats to the White House, relaying concerns that Biden is incapable of beating Donald Trump in November, and has said she thinks Biden is close to making a decision to end his campaign.”
“Pelosi has been widely reported as orchestrating the renewed pressure on Biden to give up his re-election bid, which has intensified in recent days after a brief pause following last Saturday’s failed assassination attempt on Trump, to which the president responded with a series of authoritative statements calling for calm,” the report continued.
This all comes amid unconfirmed reports that Biden intends to step aside and endorse an open convention as early as this weekend.

Biden has thus far resisted calls to step aside. At the moment, though, it’s not clear where he stands.
On one hand, reports have emerged that he and his family have begun planning his withdrawal from the 2024 race. But on the other hand, his closest advisers have said these reports are bull.

It’s not clear who to believe at this point. What’s known is that the Democrat National Committee is intent on declaring Biden the 2024 Democrat nominee as early as next week. Once that’s done, there will be no changing direction and going with someone else.
