Biden takes gaslighting to ‘another level’ with crime rate claims

President Joe Biden dubiously took credit Wednesday for declining crime rates in SOME parts of the United States.

Worse, he turned around and blamed former President Donald Trump for the 2020 crime wave that DEMOCRATS had backed.

“During the previous Administration, America saw the largest increase in murders ever recorded in 2020; Under the Biden-Harris Administration, there has been a significant decrease in crime – including one of the largest yearly declines in homicides ever,” his administration said in a “fact sheet.”

Recall that in 2020, the entire Democrat Party, including current President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, fell in lockstep with the violent, deadly Black Lives Matter riots.

Furthermore, the entire Democrat Party eagerly adopted proposals from far-left activists to defund the police.

These actions by the Democrat Party led to a massive uptick in violent crime that still persists to this day in major blue cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

The president also held a press conference Wednesday during which he doubled down on his crime rhetoric.

Yet his rhetoric doesn’t match how Americans struggling with the crime epidemic actually feel.

A Gallup poll conducted in November found that more than six in 10 Americans believe crime remains a very serious problem.

“Sixty-three percent of Americans describe the crime problem in the U.S. as either extremely or very serious, up from 54% when last measured in 2021 and the highest in Gallup’s trend,” according to the pollster.

That means more Americans view crime as a serious problem now than they did the year President Biden assumed office, meaning in turn that their perception of crime has worsened under his tenure.

Why is that? Probably because many left-wing jurisdictions have stubbornly clung to the post-BLM policies that wreaked havoc on their community in 2020 and are continuing to wreak havoc now.

One policy is the decriminalization of so many crimes, from shoplifting to loitering to even prostitution. This policy has been especially disastrous in the blue stronghold of California.

“Our examination of retail theft and robbery in California points toward recent increases across the state,” the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) reported in September.

“Using the most up-to-date data and focusing on California’s 15 largest counties, we find that while these recent trends are especially notable in the Bay Area and the Central Valley, there have been significant jumps in commercial burglaries in Southern Coastal California, and Los Angeles County has the highest commercial robbery rate,” they added.

Meanwhile in Virginia, Democrats are desperately trying to push through a bill that would reportedly provide leniency to thousands of violent criminals, including murderers, rapists, and robbers:

The proposed bill, HB 834, would “provide a process for a person serving a sentence for any conviction or a combination of any convictions who remains incarcerated in a state or local correctional facility or secure facility and meets certain criteria to petition the circuit court that entered the original judgment or order to (i) suspend the unserved portion of such sentence or run the unserved portion of such sentence concurrently with another sentence, (ii) place such person on probation for such time as the court shall determine, or (iii) otherwise modify the sentence imposed,” according to Hampton station WVEC.
