Biden torched after announcing he will shut down coal plants ‘all across America,’ pushes wind and solar

President Joe Biden gave a speech in San Diego that was meant to address the CHIPS and Science Act but instead turned into a disjointed rant that included him outrageously vowing to do away with coal plants across the nation.

He made the remark on Friday, asserting that coal plants were too expensive to operate, stating “we’re going to be shutting these plants down all across America” and shift to wind and solar power.

That remark was slammed by the Republican National Committee and was even torched by West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin.

“I was in Massachusetts about a month ago on the site of the largest old coal plant in America,” Biden said at the event in Carlsbad, California. “Guess what? It cost them too much money. They can’t count. No one is building new coal plants because they can’t rely on it. Even if they have all the coal guaranteed for the rest of the existence of the plant.”

“So it’s going to become a wind generation. And all they’re doing is it’s going to save them a hell of a lot of money and using the same transmission line that they transmitted the coal-fired electric on, we’re going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind and solar power, also providing tax credits to help families buy energy-efficient appliances, whether it’s your refrigerator or your coffee maker, for solar panels on your home, weatherize your home, things that save an average, experts say, a minimum of $500 a year for the average family,” he ridiculously blathered.

Biden flat-out lied, claiming it is “cheaper to generate electricity from wind and solar than it is from coal and oil.”

“Literally cheaper,” he added. “Not a joke.”

“President Biden’s comments are not only outrageous and divorced from reality, they ignore the severe economic pain the American people are feeling because of rising energy costs,” Manchin angrily remarked in a scathing statement rebuking Biden. “Comments like these are the reason the American people are losing trust in President Biden and instead believes he does not understand the need to have an all-in energy policy that would keep our nation totally energy independent and secure.”

“It seems his positions change depending on the audience and the politics of the day. Politicizing our nation’s energy policies would only bring higher prices and more pain for the American people,” the Democratic senator commented.

“Let me be clear, this is something the President has never said to me,” Manchin commented. “Being cavalier about the loss of coal jobs for men and women in West Virginia and across the country who literally put their lives on the line to help build and power this country is offensive and disgusting.

“The President owes these incredible workers an immediate and public apology and it is time he learn a lesson that his words matter and have consequences,” he demanded.

The Republican National Committee was incensed, tweeting, “Joe Biden celebrates coal plant workers losing their jobs.”

The president’s vow to eliminate coal and the jobs that go along with it, causing energy prices to skyrocket, is bound to hurt Democrats at the polls during the midterm elections where they are widely expected to be stomped anyway.

A Department of Energy report that came out in the summer showed massive job losses in the energy sector after Biden vowed to lead the country away from fossil fuels when he was elected.

“The DOE jobs report is not only reflective of the broader pandemic slowdown but also highlights an administration that has worked overtime on restricting American natural gas and oil production,” Independent Petroleum Association of America spokesperson Jennifer Marsteller told Fox News Digital via an email.

This is not the first time Biden has promised to shut down coal plants. While campaigning in 2020, he told coal miners who were facing losing their jobs that they should “learn to program.”

“Anybody who can go down 300-3,000 feet in a mine sure as hell can learn how to program as well,” Biden proclaimed in New Hampshire at a campaign stop. “But we don’t think of it that way. Anybody who can throw coal into a furnace can learn how to program, for God’s sake.”
