Big Three networks ignore bizarre exchange between Hawley, Berkleley professor on men getting pregnant

While corporate media remained transfixed by the Jan. 6 committee spectacle unfolding on Capitol Hill Tuesday, their zealotry to the narrative was even more pronounced by a separate hearing that took place that didn’t even merit a mention.

A peculiar development, given the stunning exchange between Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and a Berkeley Law School professor in the second hearing.

The Senate Judiciary Committee hosted UC Berkeley professor Khiara Bridges at their Tuesday hearing on abortion access and the law in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade where she vehemently insisted that men can get pregnant. Not only did the exchange, which saw Bridges slander Hawley as “transphobic,” fail to receive a mention on network evening newscasts, there was nary a blip pertaining to the hearing at all.

“Instead,” as the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters reported, “ABC’s World News TonightCBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News decided to harp on the latest episode of the Nancy Pelosi picked January 6 panel drama.”

As is so often the case with the woke ideologies, the media has endeavored to deflect or deny their perpetuation to protect the political class enabling their existence. In this case, NewsBusters contended there was an inherent fear that President Joe Biden might get backed into commenting on Bridges’ repeated use of the phrase “person with a capacity for pregnancy.”

Hawley had no such qualms, picking up the issue after his colleague Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) allowed the professor to skate by unchecked saying it five times within a minute. “I just want to clear one thing up,” the Missouri lawmaker began. “Professor Bridges, you said several times – you’ve used a phrase I want to make sure I understand what you mean by it.”

“You referred to people with a capacity for pregnancy,” he stated, appearing dumbfounded. “Would that be women?”

“Many women, cis women have the capacity for pregnancy. Many cis women do not have the capacity for pregnancy. There are also trans men who are capable of pregnancy as well as non-binary people who are capable of pregnancy,” the professor claimed.

At that point, Hawley had no choice but to seek further clarification, “So this isn’t really a women’s rights issue, it’s a what?”

“We can recognize that this impacts women while also recognizing that it impacts other groups. Those things are not mutually exclusive, Sen. Hawley,” Bridges replied with condescension. This fit snugly in her inane wheelhouse having written, according to her Berkeley bio, “many articles concerning race, class, reproductive rights, and the intersection of the three.”

“So, your view is that the core of this, this right, then is about what?” the senator pressed, boldly seeking logic from a font replete with inconsistencies.

In support of the notion of her intellectual dishonesty, Bridges pivoted into an attack on the congressman, saying, “So, I want to recognize that your line of questioning is transphobic, and it opens up trans people to violence by not recognizing them.”

“Wow, you’re saying that I’m opening up people to violence by asking whether or not women are the folks who can have pregnancies?” Hawley asked for clarity.

“I want to note that one out of five transgender persons have attempted suicide,” she added, to which the lawmaker had to wonder, “Because of my line of questioning? So we can’t talk about it?”

“Because denying that trans people exist and pretending not to know that they exist-” her next diatribe began before Hawley interrupted. “I’m denying that trans people exist by asking if you are asking women having pregnancies?”

It was then that she arrived at what she felt was the nail in the senator’s coffin as she endeavored to smear his reputation on this issue, “Do you believe that men can get pregnant?”

“No, I don’t think men can get pregnant,” Hawley rightly stated matter-of-factly without giving an inch on the premise.

“So you are denying that trans people exist,” the professor replied feeling as though she had actually won the argument, adding, “Thank you,” as an exclamation point.

However, Hawley was neither defeated nor did he drop the issue. “And that leads to violence? Is this how you run your classroom? Are students allowed to question you, or are they also treated like this, where they’re told that they’re opening up people to violence by questioning?”

“You should join, you might learn a lot,” Bridges suggest.

“Wow, I would learn a lot,” Hawley scoffed. “I’ve learned a lot just from this exchange, extraordinary.”
