Liberal comedian Bill Maher, who has long espoused his left-leaning beliefs, dropped a bombshell about his relationship with the Democratic Party.
It’s been assumed that Maher was affiliated with the Democrats, given his liberal bent and support for the party’s candidates and congressmembers. On a recent episode of his “Club Random” podcast, however, he revealed that he has “never a Democrat to begin with.”

“I never was a Democrat to begin with. I always, like, caucus with the Democrats and I generally vote for them — I think always vote for them.”

“I never was a Democrat to begin with,” Maher said to his guest, actor Esai Morales. “I always, like, caucus with the Democrats and I generally vote for them. I think, always vote for them, but I always look at it and like no, I’m gonna actually make up my mind, they just always are less scary and insane than the Republicans, but I wait for the day when it evens out.”
“We’re approaching that because they are getting crazier,” the liberal said of the Democrats. “And that’s a lot of what you’re referencing. But I never said I left the party ’cause I wasn’t there to begin with.”
