Bill Maher predicts non-fairy tale ending to ‘trashy’ Taylor Swift romance

Drawing ire from “Swifties,” comedian Bill Maher predicted the reigning queen of pop would get dumped like “the Gatorade at the Super Bowl.”

Since the romance between Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce debuted during the last NFL season, each has had their share of scene-stealing moments; her in the stands and him beside her on stage. However, as Maher interviewed current Internet viral sensation Haliey Welch, better known as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, he was anything but optimistic about the couple’s future.

“I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but the whole thing with the football player,” he said as a conversation on his “Club Random” podcast turned to music, “I just felt like 35 was a little old to be like, ‘My boyfriend’s a football player and I wear his jersey to the game with his number on it!’ Right? I mean, come on.”

Welch chimed in after a laugh, “Whatever makes her happy…that’s got nothing to do with me,” earning agreement from the host who went on to assert, “He’s gonna dump her, though. You know that.”

“With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl. You know you’re gonna get dumped,” said Maher, “You just don’t know when.”

Speaking as a fan, Welch saw the bright side of a relationship rift for the musician who’d made a career off of monetizing breakups, “If he does that, can you imagine the next album we’re gonna get off of that?”

“It won’t be ‘f*ck John Mayer’ no more,” she said, “it will be ‘f*ck Travis.'”

“That was a long time ago. Is she still singing about that?” asked Maher before his guest suggested, “I’d feel tacky singing about my ex-boyfriend.”

“I think it’s very tacky,” he added before admitting, “You can’t control what the muse dictates to you. She’s a songwriter.”

“I can’t fault her for that…But it does seem like such a recurrent theme that at some point, you just wanna say, maybe you should write a song called, ‘Maybe It’s Me,'” the comedian suggested and made clear, “I’m an admirer.”

While he endeavored to coach his guest on handling fame and moving beyond the viral video that brought her into the spotlight for discussing a sexual act, other fans of Swift were hardly enamored with Maher’s assessment of the future of the singer’s romance.

“Bill Maher is now predicting that Travis Kelce will break up with Taylor Swift. Who the hell does this clown think he is??? It is bad enough when he says stupid things about politics, but now he is gossiping with the Hawk Tuah girl on his stupid podcast,” said one as another warned Kelce would feel a similar wraith if he hurt Swift’s feelings. “If that’s true: Travis Kelce better go into Witness Protection. Them Swifties almost ended Mayer & Gylenhall. They don’t play about that white woman.”

Earlier this year, Maher spoke about the influence of Swift and made the point that “This is a person who could literally swing the election,” on HBO’s “Real Time” before going on to suggest, that “she doesn’t have to say who she’s voting for. All she has to say is get registered. They know who she’s voting for.”
