Liberal comedian Bill Maher suggested during the latest episode of his HBO program that President Joe Biden should replace Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate going into the 2024 presidential election.
Maher offered the bold suggestion during a discussion about whether or not Biden will even run for reelection come 2024. The comedian, for his part, believes he will.
“I gotta tell you, he’s not giving it up. I mean, he waited a very long time [to be president]. He’s like Dracula: ‘I have crossed oceans of time to be the president,'” he said.
“Once you have that real estate and you wake up in the White House and your office is the Oval, I just don’t think you give it up. It’s very hard to take the nomination away from the president.”
It’s then that Maher broached the prospect of Biden dropping Harris.
Bill Maher explains why he thinks @JoeBiden may replace @KamalaHarris on Democrats’ 2024 ticket.

“What I could see is replacing the vice president, because she’s just not very popular anywhere. And it didn’t seem to work out. And that’s been done before on a ticket,” he said.
This prompted one of his guests, Caitlin Flanagan of The Atlantic, to essentially point out that Harris has always sucked — not only because of her personality but because of her political record as well.
Thus, Flanagan added, Harris is effectively a major liability for Biden. As an example, she pointed to how easily former Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard had knocked her out of the limelight during the 2020 presidential primary debates.

“Tulsi Gabbard, remember that was that moment in the debate where she brought up that there are men and women in California that are in prison for these, you know, pot deals, and then she [Harris] was laughing about getting high on the radio station,” Flanagan said.
“And Tulsi Gabbard was like this heat-seeking missile. That was the end of it. You know, in addition to being — for some reason — an off-putting person, she [Harris] also has, I think, a lot of baggage that probably wouldn’t do well under a lot of scrutiny.”
Maher responded by cutting through all the noise: “I just think she’s a bad politician,” he said.
“I think she’s a very bright person, but I don’t know, I can see them doing that. Because a lot of the problem with Biden being old is, if he dies, then, you know, you’re going to get this person,” he added.
Harris’s adoring groupies didn’t care for the criticism of their hero.
Look:
Bill Maher would like everyone to know, Kamala Harris should be bumped from the 2024 ticket and that she’s a horrible politician. I would like everyone to know Bill is an unfunny bloody ‘idiot’.

I should’ve made the Tweet about how completely unhelpful Bill Maher is to the cause. Nobody is going to replace Kamala Harris and I’m sorry/not sorry you can’t stand her. I kind of admire her.

All this said, the president is extremely unlikely to replace Harris. Indeed, during a press conference in January, he was asked about the prospect but quickly shut it down.
“You put Vice President Harris in charge of voting rights. Are you satisfied with her work on this issue? And can you guarantee— do you commit that she will be your running mate in 2024, provided that you run again?” a reporter inquired.
“Yes and yes. … She is going to be my running mate, number one. And number two, I did put her in charge. I think she’s doing a good job,” the president replied.
Listen:
The president is also extremely unlikely to not run for reelection.
“President Biden’s advisers have been studying a spring 2023 reelection announcement that would echo the timetable of former president Barack Obama. They have flooded 2024 battleground states with millions of dollars to build up Democratic operations in advance of the next presidential campaign,” The Washington Post reported in June.
“And under the Biden team’s leadership, the Democratic National Committee has decided against preparing a debate schedule for a contested nomination fight. The goal of his advisers is to send every possible message that Biden, 79, is ready, able and determined to carry the party banner into another presidential election, especially if the opponent is his nemesis, Donald Trump, 76.”
That being said, this certainly isn’t what the Democrat Party base appears to want, as multiple polls have shown that they desire a new presidential candidate.
Joe Biden is now denying reality, falsely claiming that polls say voters want him to run again in 2024.
