Blue state governor says thanks, but no thanks, drops out of running to be Kamala’s veep

Now that VP Kamala Harris has been coronated as Joe Biden’s replacement as the Democrat nominee, the attention turns to who her running mate will be with one candidate dropping out of the running.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that he was removing himself from consideration for the bottom half of the historic “Kamalot” ticket, one that the media will be devoting the next three months to hyping.

In a Monday post to X, the battleground state Democrat touted Harris’s candidacy but said he won’t be seeking the job of being second banana to a woman who could become the nation’s first DEI president.

“I strongly support Vice President Harris’ campaign for President. I know she’s going to win and I was honored to be considered for this role,” Cooper said.

“This just wasn’t the right time for North Carolina and for me to potentially be on a national ticket. As I’ve said from the beginning, she has an outstanding list of people from which to choose, and we’ll all work to make sure she wins,” he added in a statement shared on the social media platform.

A source told CNN that Cooper “was approached by the Harris campaign about being vetted, and he declined.”

“Kamala Harris is a strong woman. She’s going to run this country in a way that she cares about the pocketbook issues. … She’s going to work to clean our environment. She’s going to work to make sure that people have health care and quality education. That’s the kind of person that we need,” Cooper said on a Monday “White Dudes for Harris” Zoom call,  according to CNN.

Cooper could have put the Tarheel State, which was won by Trump in both 2020 and 2016, in play for Democrats.

The party and Harris reportedly want to have her running mate selected and in place by August 7, well in advance of the Democratic National Convention later in the month, an event that was set to be a mass protest by the party’s Israel-hating base against “Genocide Joe” but will now be a nauseating lovefest guaranteed to receive swooning coverage from a media that greatly aided the party’s coup to depose its geriatric leader and promote Harris.

Other names in the mix include battleground state Democrats Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

There is also Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro who could be a hard sell with the party’s rabidly anti-Semitic base and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, a former astronaut who is reportedly at the top of the list but his ties to a surveillance balloon company that received money from Chinese investors could be an issue.
