More than a decade with the U.S. Secret Service left syndicated host Dan Bongino tearing into the “absolutely catastrophic” failure with a stunning point about what the agency was “concerned about.”
“…go to a left-wing search engine if you think I’m biased.”

Sunday morning, the NYPD officer turned Secret Service agent didn’t hold back when he joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to add his insight to the assassination attempt made on former President Donald Trump. In speaking with co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy and Pete Hegseth, Bongino brought up what amounted to a “victory lap” from agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi as he advanced calls to see investigations and resignations.
“He says in his X post, and you can read it yourself — you don’t need to hear it from me — that they deployed these extra resources and technology. Okay, well which ones?” pointed out the commentator nodding to the statement that claimed, “Theres an untrue assertion that a member of the former President’s team requested additional security resources & that those were rebuffed. This is absolutely false. In fact, we added protective resources & technology & capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo.”

“Really? To let a sniper 150 yards away from the potential next president shoot a piece of his ear off. That’s your victory lap?” Bongino wondered incredulously over the tragedy that cost the life of a spectator. “The failure here is absolutely catastrophic.”
Noting that the agency sometimes employs local resources to assist and that the sniper team credited with neutralizing the threat may not have been actual Secret Service agents, he argued, “You’re telling me the best technology you have was deployed and you missed a shooter 130 yards — say it was 200 yards — the Secret Service CS Team, Pete, the Counter Sniper Teams — and I’m not sure those two guys are Secret Service…we’re trained out to 1,000 yards in the Secret Service with the Counter Sniper Team. How did they miss someone at most one-fifth of the way there? It doesn’t make any sense.”
Meanwhile, as he wondered about the resources used such as possible drones, Bongino called out a reported focus of the agency and told the Fox News hosts and viewers to “Look up U.S. Secret Service red ties Donald Trump.”
“The Secret Service was more concerned about protective agents around Donald Trump — if you think I’m making this up…go to a left-wing search engine if you think I’m biased. Go to ‘Scroogle,'” he said mocking Google, “…they were more concerned about the color of the Secret Service agents’ ties around Donald Trump, given the perception that a red tie was somehow — I’ve got red ties. I’m a Republican, it has nothing to do with it. I just like red ties. They go nice with white shirts.”
“This is what the Secret Service was concerned about,” slammed the podcast host.
Reiterating a point that he had made repeatedly on social media, Bongino said, “The Secret Service director has completely failed and, candidly, should resign today.”
He supported his take by countering Guglielmi’s point and suggested, “The Secret Service should be very careful, I can tell you and can absolutely confirm from the horse’s mouth, from multiple people, not just one…there have been repeated requests to increase the security footprint around not just the residences of Donald Trump, but the body itself. And they have been rebuffed.”
“They absolutely, resolutely, 100 percent failed,” the former agent asserted. “Not a single excuse should be made. Not a single excuse should be attempted. This should be the subject of congressional hearings and investigations, because if they can’t do this and this is the best technology you have, then folks, there’s no purpose anymore. This isn’t the agency I grew up in.”
Tacking an exclamation point on his fiery take, Bongino added, “This was an apocalyptic security failure and don’t ever forget. An uneventful failure is never a success. And the fact that Donald Trump didn’t die yesterday is no reason for anybody to take some kind of victory lap.”
