An illegal alien with a history of drunk driving caused a crash in San Diego that reportedly killed an 8-year-old girl.
Brayan Alva-Rodriguez, a 25-year-old from Guatemala, was allegedly driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma drunk last Sunday “when he crossed over the solid double-yellow line” and crashed head-on into a Toyota Camry, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
His Tacoma then crashed into a Ford F-350 with a utility trailer, causing his truck to turn over and erupt into flames.
Alva-Rodriguez, described by the paper as “an Oceanside resident,” and his passenger suffered major injuries and were taken to a hospital. The 26-year-old male driver of the Camry and his passenger, a 28-year-old woman, also suffered major injuries.
“Three children were in the back of the Camry, and they were taken to Rady’s Children’s Hospital with major injuries,” the Union-Tribune notes. “A 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy survived, but the girl succumbed to her injuries. Her name was not released.”
According to the New York Post, Alva-Rodriguez is a seriously bad hombre.
“The Guatemalan national was previously charged with DUIs in San Diego and Vista on Sept. 6, 2020, and April 7, 2021, respectively, with the latter incident also including a hit-and-run charge,” the Post notes.
He’s since been arrested by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and charged with first-degree murder, two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter, and felony charges for driving under the influence and causing bodily injury.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged an arrest detainer for Alva-Rodriguez, but it’s unclear if the San Diego Sheriff’s Office — which is beholden to “sanctuary” laws — will comply.
The Post notes that when a Mexican illegal alien named Hector Balderas-Aheelor committed a hit and run that killed an 11-year-old boy, the sheriff’s office refused to comply with ICE.
“How many deaths of children at the hands of criminal illegal aliens need to happen before Governor Newsom and sanctuary politicians will prioritize the safety and security of American families?” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
Referring specifically to Alva-Rodriguez, she added, “This serial drunk driver should have never been allowed back onto California roads.”
This issue of the police not cooperating with ICE is a problem that affects virtually every blue state, including New York, where almost 7,000 criminal illegal aliens have been released back onto the streets thanks to disastrous state and local “sanctuary” laws that protect the illegal community.
Included among the 7,000 or so illegals was Jesus Romero Hernandez, a Mexican national who was released back onto the streets after serving nearly half a year in jail for attacking a local police officer with a machete.

This week, ICE Director Todd Lyons sent a letter to the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James demanding that her state stop releasing illegals like Hernandez.
“These are people who are not only in the country illegally, but who have committed additional crimes, including heinous crimes like murder, rape, possession of child pornography, armed robbery, and many others,” Lyons wrote in his letter to James’ office.
HAND ‘EM OVER!
New York City’s failure to honor ICE detainers has resulted in the release of 6,947 criminal illegal aliens since January 20. There are another 7,000 still in the custody of a New York jurisdiction with an active detainer.

In a statement to the Post, Tricia McLaughlin reiterated what Lyons had said.
“Attorney General James and her fellow New York Sanctuary politicians are releasing murderers, terrorists, and sexual predators back into our neighborhoods and putting American lives at risk,” she said.
“We are calling on Letitia James to stop this dangerous derangement and commit to honoring the ICE arrest detainers of the more than 7,000 criminal illegal aliens in New York’s custody. It is common sense. Criminal illegal aliens should not be released back onto our streets to terrorize more innocent Americans,” she added.
