Sydney Sweeney’s no-nonsense attitude spoke for itself once more as the professional athlete behind her latest film revealed how the actress “got down and dirty …”

By most metrics, it would be reasonable to expect the star from such spirit of the age projects as “Euphoria,” “The White Lotus,” and “Immaculate” would be celebrated by the left before learning of her reported Republican voter registration. Instead, the down-to-earth, girl-next-door who makes sport of restoring cars and shooting guns gave progressives a new reason to melt down as she earned praise for her portrayal of Hall of Famer Christy Martin from the boxer herself.
Starring as the super welterweight champion known as the “Coalminer’s Daughter” in the new biopic “Christy,” Martin, who’d long lived as a closeted lesbian in an abusive marriage to a man 25 years her senior, marveled at the work Sweeney put in for the role, as NBC News reported her to be at a loss for words.
“If you see anybody do that, it’s one thing. But you see Sydney Sweeney doing that? It was a whole ‘nother level of ‘wow,'” explained Martin as the nutrition and exercise regimen of the actress saw her put on 25 pounds for the film. “She’s the ‘it’ girl. She’s the hottest thing right now in Hollywood. She got down and dirty and became a professional fighter.”
Explaining that her training involved slalom skiing, hiking, lifting weights and, of course, boxing, alongside reading Martin’s autobiography, watching her documentary, as well as reviewing interviews and fight footage, Sweeney also revealed how her teenage background with grappling and kickboxing gave her a foundation to work with.
“I started when I was 12, and I trained up until I was 19, 20, so I’d been hit before. I’ve been choked out. I’ve been stuck in triangles that I can’t get out of. So I kind of already had that background with me,” the actress told NBC News. “But being able to jump back into it and do it back home with my whole family there, watching me and cheering me on, was just a great experience.”
The boxer wasn’t merely amazed by the work that Sweeney put into it, but the result as well. She explained, “By the time I got on set with her, she was already in my mind, she was already walking like me, talking like me. She wasn’t just there because this was the job of the day. This was something that she wanted to really wholeheartedly jump into.”
Martin’s praise for the actress came on the heels of her interview with GQ features director Katherine Stoeffel, who was stymied by Sweeney’s rejection to being teed up for some kind of politically correct struggle session over the American Eagle jeans ad that melted leftist snowflakes over the summer.
“The criticism of the content, which was basically that maybe specifically in this political climate, like, white people shouldn’t joke about genetic superiority — that was kind of the criticism broadly speaking,” Stoeffel had said. “Since you are talking about this, I just wanted to give you the opportunity to talk about that specifically.”
“I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about,” the actress responded, shutting the topic down, “people will hear.”

Sweeney had also said during the interview, which has since birthed a new owning the libs meme format, “I know who I am. I know what I value. I know that I’m a kind person. I know that I love a lot, and I know that I’m just excited to see what happens next. And so I don’t really let other people define who I am.”
