Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, recently tried to laugh off “woke 1” but people aren’t having it.
Some leftists think that saying “woke 1 was crazy” will somehow absolve them of taking part in the establishment of policies that have had long-term negative effects on the United States. AOC is among those trying to shrug off the effects of things like defunding the police and calling for prisons to be abolished, after she was asked to answer for Francesca Hong’s old tweets, including supporting the elimination of Thanksgiving.

But not everyone is willing to let AOC wash her hands of the movement. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, authored a brutal takedown of the progressive lawmaker.
