Ex-CIA Director John Brennan wasted no time pointing fingers after his security clearance was revoked, calling Trump’s move “bizarre.”
President Trump continued on his roll of signing executive orders on Tuesday and revoked security clearances for the 51 former intelligence officials who claimed emails related to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal had “all the earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
Brennan was one of the top intel officials who signed the 2020 letter in an attempt to cast doubt on evidence related to Hunter Biden’s crimes.
“Signatories of the letter falsely suggested that the news story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign,” Trump’s executive order said of “the former intelligence officials who engaged in misleading and inappropriate political coordination with the 2020 Biden presidential campaign,” Fox News reported.
Brennan shot back claiming Trump “misrepresented the facts in that executive order because it said that we had suggested that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation,” he told MSNBC on Tuesday. “No, we said it was all the hallmarks of Russian information operations, including the dumping of accurate information, which is what we said in that letter.”
Brennan went on to claim that this was all about payback for Trump.
“So, again, this was just, you know, his effort to try to get back at those individuals who have criticized him openly and publicly in the past, and I think very legitimately,” he said.
Joe Biden boasted the letter signed by the 51 officials in the 2020 presidential debate against Trump. After Biden took the Oval Office it was disclosed that the Justice Department had known since 2019 that Hunter’s laptop was “not manipulated in any way” and contained “reliable evidence,” Fox reported.
Convenient!
During the interview, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked Brennan to “clear up” why Trump didn’t revoke his security clearance in 2018.
Brennan argued that it was for the good of the government, of course.
“The only reason why I still had a security clearance, as I have for the past number of years since I left government service, was for the benefit of the government, so that if the CIA or another government agency wanted to call me in to discuss a classified matter, they could do that,” Brennan said.
“And so it was really for the government’s benefit. It was to facilitate those classified discussions with myself, as well as with former directors, as well as other former members of the intelligence community that had those clearances.”
Brennan called Trump’s EO against the 51 agents “bizarre.”
Many folks aren’t buying what Brennan’s selling and let him have it on X:
John Brennan, whined on MSNBC about the revocation of his security clearance for lying, and lied again (see video below).
He denied he and CIA goons said the Hunter laptop was “Russian disinformation.”

Amazing amounts of sheer arrogance and delusions of grandeur. We don’t need you John.
We also read and listened to what you said when you were campaigning for Biden back in 2020.
You and your cronies might have left yourself a semantical fig leaf in the official statement,…

Brennan didn’t do it for the benefit of the government. What he did was detrimental to the constitutional freedoms of all Americans. I hope the penalty is far greater than just losing his security clearance.

Do you hear that giant suction sound?
That’s the sound of Trump taking away Brennan’s security clearance.
