It’s safe to say that for Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, the bar is pretty low when it comes to evaluating President Biden’s abilities.
In what some in the media billed as Buttigieg roasting Donald Trump, the Democrat dared to tout Biden’s ability to ride a bike as an advantage over the former president.
Buttigieg was testifying before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Tuesday and U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, referenced previous remarks from the former mayor of South Bend about Trump’s mental state of mind before shifting his focus to Biden’s performance of late.
“We now see the mainstream media questioning President Biden’s mental state, and for good reason,” Nehls said. “Sadly, he shakes hands with ghosts and imaginary people. He falls off bicycles. Even at the White House Easter celebration, the Easter Bunny had to get him back into his safe place. Cue cards that say, ‘Sit here’ or ‘End of speech,’ which he actually states.”
“So my question for you is, sir, have you spoken with any other cabinet members about implementing the 25th Amendment on President Biden?” Nehls would ask.

Following a well-worn script, Buttigieg quickly made it all about Trump in replying, “First of all, I’m glad to have a president who can ride a bicycle.”
“Answer the question,” Nehls redirected.
“I will look beyond the insulting nature of that question and make clear to you that the president–” Buttigieg began.
Nehls interrupted to again ask, “Have you spoken to cabinet members about implementing the 25th Amendment on President Biden?”
“Of course not,” Buttigieg replied, before saying the feeble, 79-year-old president was “as vigorous a colleague or boss as I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
Buttigieg also made headlines for another reason Tuesday when he said at the hearing that “the more pain” Americans feel at the pump “the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicle.”
