Can’t keep lies straight: White House, Biden say he saw doctor after debate after KJP says not

The Biden White House likes to bill itself as the most transparent administration ever, but contradicting statements on the simple question of whether President Joe Biden saw a doctor after last week’s debate reinforces the notion that trustworthiness is an attribute in short supply with this regime.

Among the excuses rolled out after the 81-year-old cognitively challenged president’s alarming performance was that he had a cold, but when White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked earlier this week if he had any medical exams since his annual physical in February, she replied that he had not.

“He did not get checked out by the doctor. It’s a cold, guys. It’s a cold,” she said. “I know that it affects everybody differently. We’ve all had colds, and so no, he was not checked out by the doctor.”

On Wednesday, Politico cited three sources to report that while meeting with over 20 Democratic governors, Biden said he had a medical checkup post-debate and was fine.

The following day, White House spokesman Andrew Bates confirmed that the president did see a doctor about his cold, contradicting Jean-Pierre’s claim.

“Several days later, the president was seen to check on his cold and was recovering well,” Bates said on Thursday.

CNN reported the White House also claimed that Jean-Pierre “said Biden had not had any medical exams since February because she was drawing a distinction between the president being checked out by his doctor and receiving a formal ‘physical’ does not appear to explain a different exchange from the same briefing on Wednesday.”

Biden also claimed at a Tuesday fundraiser in McLean, Virginia, that he was dealing with jet lag from his trip to Europe, even though he returned 12 days before the debate.

“I wasn’t very smart,” he reportedly told donors. “I decided to travel around the world a couple of times, going through I don’t know how many time zones — for real I think it [was] 15 time zones… I didn’t listen to my staff.”

“And then I came back and nearly fell asleep on stage,” Biden said before adding, “It’s not an excuse, but an explanation.”

Interestingly, the New York Times reported that while holed up at Camp Davide for SIX days of debate prep, President Biden never started before 11:00 a.m. and took an afternoon nap each day.

The Times reported, “Mr. Biden was drained enough from the back-to-back trips to Europe that his team cut his planned debate preparation by two days so he could rest at his house in Rehoboth Beach, Del., before joining advisers at Camp David for rehearsals. The preparations, which took place over six days, never started before 11 a.m. and Mr. Biden was given time for an afternoon nap each day, according to a person familiar with the process.”

Jean-Pierre was asked on Wednesday why she had not previously mentioned travel fatigue and jet lag as contributing factors for Biden’s poor debate performance.

“I was so focused on the call – on the cold – and that’s what I kind of leaned into and talked about, but yes, his schedule did have something to do with it,” she told CNN. “It was the schedule and the cold. And I did – I was aware of that yesterday.”

Most transparent ever.
