CBS News sob story claims 5-year-old ‘arrested’ by ICE is still traumatized

The media has repeatedly used sob stories about illegal aliens to tug at the heartstrings of gullible Americans about the cruelty of enforcing federal immigration law, with few being more effective than that of the five-year-old boy “arrested” by ICE in Minneapolis earlier this year.

On January 22, Liam Conejo Ramos was abandoned by his father during a targeted operation to arrest the illegal alien from Ecuador who fled on foot to avoid capture, leaving his young son alone with no regard for his own child’s safety.

According to reports, ICE agents subsequently tried to take the youngster home, but his mother refused to open the door. Ramos was then sent to a detention center in Texas with his irresponsible dad before a judge ordered them released. The story was pounced on by Democrats, including a failed 2024 presidential candidate, claiming that the child was used as “bait” by ICE.

Now, in a shameless attempt to milk a Democrat narrative, CBS News has revisited the youngster to claim that little Liam is “still living with the trauma” of the incident, which was sensationalized at the height of the showdown between the Trump administration and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

“Five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, the boy whose ICE detention in Minnesota sparked global outrage after he was taken away wearing a blue bunny hat and carrying his school backpack, is still living with the trauma,” the outlet said in a post to X promoting its interview with the boy’s parents.

“More than two months later, they say Liam is no longer the same child: He’s afraid to go outside, asks if police are ICE, and worries they will ‘take me away again.’ His parents say he is now getting support, but fear the emotional scars from his time in detention may not heal quickly,” the post read.

In a story on CBS News’ website, Erika Ramos explains that since the incident, her son is “more prone to acting up and behaving badly” and that the once “playful and happy kid, no longer wants to go to certain classes or play with other children.”

“He sees police officers, and he says, ‘It’s ICE, Mommy,'” Ramos said.

X users reacted to the network’s emotional manipulation to push an agenda.

“ICE did NOT target a child. The child was ABANDONED,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement after the incident went down. “On January 20, ICE conducted a targeted operation to arrest Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, an illegal alien from Ecuador who was RELEASED into the U.S. by the Biden administration.”

“As agents approached the driver, Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, fled on foot—abandoning his child. For the child’s safety, one of our ICE officers remained with the child while the other officers apprehended Conejo Arias,” the statement read.

Democrats and their winged monkeys in the media will never let the truth get in the way of a good narrative.
