The disgraced and now-indicted Southern Poverty Law Center began its descent into partisan madness under the helm of Margaret Huang.
Installed at the SPLC as president and CEO in 2020 after co-founder Morris Seligman Dees Jr. was fired, Huang transformed the organization from one that defends civil rights to one that persecutes conservatives and Christians, according to the New York Post.
Indeed, her tenure at the SPLC, which finally ended last summer, coincided with the organization “accusing conservative and religious groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom, Moms for Liberty, and the Family Research Council of fomenting ‘hate’ or ‘extremism.'”
Moms for Liberty was labeled and targeted by the SPLC because we successfully fought and won local battles for parental rights and transparency in education.

Huang, whose compensation totaled $522,000 in 2023 according to Post reports, is such a radical that she penned an op-ed last year for the left-wing extremist blog Daily Kos in which she smeared everybody from people who wanted to keep schools open during COVID to parents who wanted their rights over their own children to be respected.
She was especially mad at Florida, considered by many to be the freest and best state in the country, for adopting Republican policies.
“Florida was a leading incubator in which these policies took shape,” she whined. “They … sought to shut down drag story hours, ban discussion of LGBTQ+ identities in the classroom, and deny gender-affirming medical care for young transgender people.”
So-called “gender-affirming medical care” typically means surgeries to physically remove the genitals of children.
Huang also kvetched about the right’s attacks on DEI, a subversive policy that calls for rectifying historical discrimination against black and Hispanic minorities by applying active discrimination against modern whites and Asians.
“These measures restricted discussions of race and gender in college classrooms and cut funding for diversity personnel and offices, impacting 212 college campuses in 32 states,” she complained.
“Companies also increasingly faced legal challenges and pressure from lawmakers and political candidates to drop their DEI programs. Last year, Walmart, Boeing, John Deere, Lowe’s, Ford, and many more announced they would scale back their efforts,” she added.
Elected Democrats have made similar complaints, which just goes to show how extreme the party has become:
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey claims companies are abandoning DEI policies because of the threat from Donald Trump:
Lulu Garcia Navarro: “President Trump has made rolling back DEI which is diversity, equity and inclusion, central to his political project.”

During the Biden administration, the SPLC worked hand in hand with Democrats to target, censor, and persecute conservatives and Christians.
“The DOJ, during Attorney General Merrick Garland’s tenure, colluded with the radical, left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center on matters relating to federal civil rights enforcement,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan said in November.
“The extent of the SPLC’s influence over our nation’s federal law enforcement during the Biden-Harris administration is deeply concerning, and we respectfully request additional information on this matter,” he added at the time in a missive to the DOJ.
In the letter, Jordan further noted how the SPLC loves to smear conservatives as this, that, and the other.
“The SPLC routinely maligns conservative and religious organizations, such as Turning Point USA, Family Research Council, and Moms for Liberty, as ‘hate’ groups simply because the SPLC disagrees with their views,” he rightly wrote.
“The fact that the Biden-Harris DOJ would foster a close relationship with the SPLC, knowing its biased political ideology, is concerning and just more evidence of the Biden-Harris administration’s weaponization of the federal government against certain Americans,” he added.
Huang resigned this past July amid massive layoffs and during a time of family stress.
“In the last few months, I have had one parent enter hospice care and another parent begin memory care,” she wrote at the time in an SPLC blog post. “This experience has been devastating for our family.”
“For me, living my personal values means choosing to leave a job I love to be more present and available to my loved ones. I have always found inspiration in serving others, and today those people are actually my parents. I recognize how privileged I am to be able to do this,” she added.
