Big changes may be in the offing at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which is next on the list to be put under the microscope as the Trump administration takes a chainsaw to government spending.
With the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) zeroing in on fraud and waste as Democrats shriek in protest, the agency which was created during the Obama administration could soon be a thing of the past, joining corrupt money laundering conduit USAID on the scrapheap.
In a Friday post to X that comes as his team prepares to audit the independent agency, DOGE boss Elon Musk cryptically suggested its demise.
CFPB RIP

“CFPB RIP,” wrote Musk along with a tombstone emoji.
He had previously called for the elimination of the agency which has drawn criticism for its burdensome regulations.
“Delete CFPB. There are too many duplicative regulatory agencies,” he said an a November X post.

Democrats are already losing their minds over USAID and the potential shuttering of the Department of Education as they scream for rebellion in the streets and aren’t likely to take kindly to any efforts to close down the CFPB, especially one of their shrillest members, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) who proposed its creation when she was still in academia and is credited with its inception.
An ethically challenged moonbat who grossly exaggerated her Indian heritage to advance her career, “Pocahontas” isn’t likely to just retreat to her wigwam and let Musk come for her prized papoose.
Warren’s ongoing meltdown during the Senate confirmation hearings of Trump’s nominees – especially HHS head Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – has illuminated her progressive hypocrisy, which is just as fake as her Native American pedigree.
In one revealing glimpse at the real Warren, the left-wing harridan railed against Kennedy because he might hold vaccine manufacturers accountable for the potential damages of their products.
RFK JR: You’re asking me not to sue pharma companies!
WARREN: No. I. am. not!!! My question is stop enriching!!

She also lashed out at Musk, repeating the mantra that he’s an unelected bureaucrat which never seemed to bother Democrats when they were worshipping at the altar of Dr. Fauci. Warren also lied that DOGE is going after the personal information of ordinary Americans and positioned herself as their defender even as she stuffs her pockets with Big Pharma cash.
No one elected Elon Musk.
As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.
We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm.

Musk’s short but sweet CFPB obit drew an enthusiastic response from X users.
DOGE it all down!!!

WHAT?!!!!!! Did they finally take Liz Warren’s little pet federal agency behind the shed with a .22?!! https://t.co/Rl0N4v95dI

I once worked in financial services and I can say with confidence that every year since the CFPB was established was worse than the next. The CFPB didn’t solve problems, they created them. Every time a new rule was written and enforced, it ended up costing the consumer more.
— cerebro (@cerebralinc) February 8, 2025
I remember that the primary objective for creating the CFPB is to rein in the excessiveness of credit card companies and the vicious circle of financial ruin they create for consumers. But nothing has changed since the creation of the agency. Instead, more Americans are in…

Any move against the CFPB will be swiftly met with lawfare from Democrats and their allies who have already deployed their activist judge stooges to undermine President Donald J. Trump’s delivering on a core campaign promise to cut the size of the bloated government. But one of their arguments could be problematic in that they may have outsmarted themselves by setting up the agency as being independent from Congress.
The CFPB is NOT funded by Congress but by the Federal Reserve, an intentional gambit by Democrats that allows CFPB to evade Congressional oversight. But that’s a double-edged sword: if it isn’t funded by Congress, that means a President doesn’t need Congress to defund it either.

Warren has yet to respond to Musk’s post but it’s a guarantee that she will soon be on the warpath.
