Actor Charlie Sheen reportedly called 911 after his neighbor forced her way into his home and assaulted him.
The “Two and a Half Men” alum was not taken to the hospital when help arrived but the 47-year-old woman who has evidently had some issues with Sheen was arrested at her own residence where she had returned after the attack.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Sheen had opened the door after hearing a knock only to be confronted by his neighbor who allegedly tried to choke the 58-year-old actor and ripped his shirt in the process of the assault, TMZ reported.
Though the motivation behind the attack was not clear, the report noted that Sheen and this neighbor have had disputes before. After the Wednesday incident, the woman reportedly left Sheen’s Malibu home and returned to her own.
Officers from the LASD and paramedics arrived after the actor placed a call. However, he was not taken to a hospital to be treated for any injuries, TMZ reported, citing “sources.”
“We’re told Charlie doesn’t understand what prompted the incident but this apparently isn’t his first issue with her … he told deputies he believes the same woman squirted some type of sticky liquid on his car recently,” TMZ noted.
“A source close to Charlie adds to TMZ that he spoke to the woman after the car incident … and their conversation was something to the effect of letting bygones be bygones,” the outlet continued.
A day before the reported assault, the woman allegedly piled garbage in front of Sheen’s door. After her actions Wednesday, the unnamed woman was reportedly booked for assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
Sheen, the son of actor Martin Sheen, starred in the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” for eight seasons before being abruptly fired amid his struggles with his drug and alcohol addiction. He told People magazine in a recent interview about his journey to being six years sober.
“Next month I’ll be six years sober,” he told the magazine earlier this month. “I have a very consistent lifestyle now. It’s all about single dad stuff, and raising my 14-year-old twin boys Max and Bob.”
“Now I wake up early, around 4:30 or 5 a.m., get an early jump on the news, work out, answer emails,” he told the outlet. “Then I get the kids up and help them with their morning routine — if you can call it a routine.”
Sheen cites disappointing his daughter one day as the wake-up call that got him to stop cold turkey.
“I think the first month I was like, I’m going to have give it a month, just see if I feel any better, and if my interactions with those that are closest to me improve,” he told People. “And they did. And I’m like, all right, I’m going to go another month. And then it got traction. I had momentum.”
He is also stepping back in front of cameras again, as he guest starred as himself on the new Chuck Lorre comedy series “Bookie,” starring comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.
“I’m proud of the choices that I’ve made and the changes I’ve made to live a life today that will never look like that mess,” he said. “That was some alien version of myself.”
