Chevrolet’s annual Christmas commercial is here, and it’s everything an American could want in a holiday advertisement.
The video, which is a little under three-and-a-half minutes long, is a reminder of how holidays are meant to be spent: In the loving company of family. The world has become a fast-paced, dog-eat-dog place where it’s easy to overlook the little things in life that mean the most. Spending time with family has fallen by the wayside in the interest of personal progress and career advancement. Some people even let political disagreements come between them and the people they love the most, being encouraged to do so by social media influences that don’t have their best interests at heart.
Perhaps that is why Chevrolet’s advertisement is so poignant; it’s a reminder of the kind of life that has been lost in recent times:
The holidays, particularly Christmas, are not just about food, gifts and trying to get back home before the snow rolls in. It’s a time to slow down, reminisce over old memories and make new ones, facts that can get lost in the hustle and bustle of trying to fit everyone in during the season’s vacation.
One would even be forgiven for momentarily forgetting that the advertisement was trying to sell you a product, as the overall message had little to do with consumerism and everything to do with family, fun and cherishing every moment.
