Chicago gunfight with concealed carry holder proves deadly for bad guys

Gunfights in Chicago are a common occurrence. Not so common is a video of the aftermath shared by one of the participants.

While details are sketchy, the incident reportedly took place about 1:15 a.m. when two men in a vehicle confronted a 31-year-old man who was a concealed carry holder, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The men in the vehicle opened fire and the concealed carry holder returned fire, striking both men in the car, according to police.

Citing police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the Sun-Times reported that Edwin Lopez, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the chest and a 37-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. The second man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

The 31-year-old was shot in the torso and he shared a defiant video clip showcasing his injury on Snap Chat:

“Gangsta killer, b*tch. That’s what I’m talking about,” the man says as the camera pans to a motionless body lying in the street.

He was reportedly taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, according to police.

There was a little debate amongst social media users over whether this qualifies as a “good guy with a gun” scenario… here’s a quick sampling of the responses, as seen on X:
