Chris Rock: Arresting Trump for paying a porn star will ‘make him more popular … are you stupid?’

Comedian Chris Rock waded into politics Sunday night with a simple question for any lawmakers in attendance ahead of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump: “Are you stupid?”

Gathering at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Rock was joined by the likes of Dana Carvey, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Ben Stiller to award Adam Sandler the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The event’s locale also brought out political guests such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her husband Paul Pelosi whom the standup comic had no problem challenging, according to the DailyMail.

“Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?” he asked after reports emerged the president could be indicted Tuesday for alleged payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to remain silent over a supposed affair in violation of campaign finance laws.

“Do you know this is only going to make him more popular? It’s like arresting Tupac. He’s just gonna sell more records,” Rock reasoned before slamming supporters of the idea in the audience, “Are you stupid?”

The assessment was one of a growing consensus that billionaire Elon Musk had also voiced upon learning the news, tweeting Saturday, “If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory.”

Whether or not that would occur, the president himself has called for supporters to “PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!” over the “CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL” decision by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg (D) issuing a rallying cry to “TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

Rock remained light-hearted with his jokes about the developing story and poked at the heart of the matter with a crass summation of what Trump had been accused of and said the businessman, “f*cked a porn star and paid off someone so his wife couldn’t find out. That’s romantic.”

“We’ve all been cheated on. Don’t you wish that the person that cheated on you paid off somebody so you wouldn’t find out?” he went on to the audience of celebrities and swamp creatures.

The comedian also made a few passing jokes involving Democrats, including a gibe at President Joe Biden’s advanced age as he quipped, “Trump was so bad as president, he was so bad that Joe Biden had to burst off a monument. Biden was dead for 16 years.”

Having already opened up about the infamous slap received from actor Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards last year during his Netflix special “Selective Outrage” where he had taken shots at the man’s relationship with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and admitted the attack “still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear!” Rock called out the reported burglary incident at the Pelosi’s San Francisco home and said, “Paul Pelosi — only guy that knows how I felt.”

As for the potential indictment of Trump, the grand jury that had been convened is expected to hear from one more witness Monday on the matter.
