Chuck Todd’s claim Trump caused his tires to get slashed gives major ‘Smollett’ vibes

Chuck Todd bizarrely claimed that he got his tires slashed as a direct result of President Donald Trump calling him out.

Trump does not mince words, and when it comes to reporters who use their positions to twist facts and misinform the public, he will not hold back. The president has called out a number of journalists over the course of his political career, but none of them have made the theatrical display of it that Todd has.

Video of him complaining about having his tires slashed is going viral on X:

“I dealt with it in the first term with him and other reporters, there’s a direct correlation. He’d call your name you, you’d get weird phone calls, you’d get weird death threats, I got my tires slashed in front of my house, you know,” Todd said. “Honestly, I’ve had conversations with him, I said ‘You know when you name-check people who are not in the public square, who do not have the protection, you bring a level of…’ He views it as, oh it’s good publicity.”

“I don’t think he’s doing it to create a security problem for these people, but what he wants to do is deflect blame,” he goes on. “That’s always what he’s looking for. But the reality is, it creates a security problem. And more public officials in Washington have their own security detail now than at any point in the 30 years that I’ve covered Washington. And it’s simply because of the name-checking of threats that takes place now by him.”

X users weren’t about to take Todd’s claims at face value:
