Russia’s own top spy chief has just confirmed that Russia is having “regular” meetings with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
That’s according to Reuters, which cited the Russian state news agency RIA to report that Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russia’s foreign intelligence agency, said contacts between his agency and the CIA take place regularly, but at long intervals.
The mysterious report gives few details, but it comes as the CIA has expressed interest in recruiting spies in Russia — CNN reported in May that the CIA “launched a new effort to capitalize on what U.S. intelligence officials believe is an ‘unprecedented’ opportunity to convince Russians disaffected by the war in Ukraine and life in Russia to share their secrets, posting a slickly produced, cinematic recruitment video online.”

Naryshkin said in July that he and his CIA counterpart discussed the short-lived mutiny by Russian mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and “what to do with Ukraine” in a phone call, according to The Guardian.
More from the UK newspaper:
Sergei Naryshkin, head of the SVR foreign intelligence service, told Russia’s Tass new agency on Wednesday that Bill Burns had raised “the events of 24 June” – when fighters from the Wagner mercenary group took control of a southern Russian city and advanced towards Moscow before reaching a deal with the Kremlin to end the revolt.
ADVERTISEMENTBut he said that for most of the call, lasting about an hour, “we considered and discussed what to do with Ukraine”.
Of course, any such revelation under a Trump administration would send liberal media sycophants into a frenzy, hyperventilating about collusion and undermining Ukraine — under the Biden administration there was little stir.
Here’s more from Naryshkin on how the West allegedly misjudged Russia’s potential when it comes to Ukraine:
