Cleveland Fire chief put on leave over vile social media post mocking Charlie Kirk

Corporate media’s downplay of an Ohio fire chief’s “incendiary” post in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination didn’t curb the consequences after the mayor said it “crossed the line.”

In the days since the Christian patriot was assassinated at Utah Valley University for expressing his opinions, the nation has witnessed how entrenched leftism has become at every level of society. This includes Cleveland, where the Cleveland Division of Fire Chief Anthony P. Luke was placed on administrative leave after sharing a political cartoon with the message “BRING OUT THE NEXT SACRIFICE!!”

The cartoon depicted a rifle drawn as a large golden idol with an anthropomorphized elephant dressed as a religious leader at the top of the altar, with bloody bodies scattered on the steps. Around the idol, other elephants in suits prostrated themselves as the artist shared part of a quote from Kirk that many leftists have repeated in the wake of the tragedy to mock the deceased husband and father.

Kirk said in part, “I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, a few gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

Reacting to Luke’s post, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb (D) announced that the chief had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. However, like corporate media reports on the shared cartoon, Hizzoner provided a toned-down description of the illustration, describing it as merely “an image of an assault rifle” with the caption “Bring out the next sacrifice!!”

His statement began, “Yesterday, a social media post by Fire Chief Anthony Luke was brought to my attention. In it, he shared an image of an assault rifle with a caption stating, ‘Bring out the next sacrifice!!’ This post romanticizes gun violence, a matter far too serious in a city where we mourn too many families every week, too many lives cut short, and too many children denied safe sleep in their beds.”

After defending First Amendment rights, the mayor acknowledged, “Chief Luke’s post crossed the line. It was insensitive, incendiary, and it did not reflect the values of compassion, unity, and safety that I strive to stand for–and that every public safety leader in this city should embody.”

“We should never glorify violence; we should confront it, heal from it, and work tirelessly to prevent its next occurrence,” he went on.

Meanwhile, Luke’s social media account went on to share a message where he referred to the “Republican stance and actions on reasonable gun regulations [as] inhuman and immoral.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the fire chief will retain his position, as employees in public and private positions across the country have already been removed for celebrating the assassination of Kirk.
