CNN anchors calmly criticize Biden for using Marines in speech and the left comes completely unglued

On the rare occasion a CNN talking head offers an honest analogy of an event that doesn’t further the interests of the Democratic Party, that individual can expect a heavy dose of what personalities on the right deal with daily.

Case in point is the reaction from CNN anchor Brianna Keilar denouncing the use of two U.S. Marine Corps sentries to punctuate what may be the angriest, most divisive speech an American president has ever given. Set against a blood red backdrop, President Biden exploited the symbolism of the U.S. military to deliver an attack on millions of Americans under the banner of “unity,” demonizing “MAGA Republicans” as a threat to democracy and the nation itself.

It was the dark nature of the speech, which was delivered outside Independence Hall, that made the presence of the Marine sentries stand out all the more and it was noticed by plenty of Americans, to include Keilar.

The CNN anchor tweeted: “Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical. Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It’s wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”

Rather surprisingly, she had company from others at CNN who held the same view, like chief national affairs correspondent Jeff Zeleny, who was promptly labeled “a shill for the RNC.”

The pushback from the left was swift, prompting Keilar to respond within an hour, trying to appease critics somewhat by saying it’s “easier for military-connected folks to grasp” her point.

“It’s possible to agree with everything Biden said and still disagree with using Marines as backdrops for a political speech,” she tweeted, tagging Allison Jaslow, an Iraq war vet and former executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, who would tweet her agreement.

To her credit, Keilar didn’t fold completely in the face of the criticism, even addressing the issue on air Friday morning by bringing Jaslow on as a guest:

But the reaction from the Kool Aide drinkers on the left was something to behold… here’s a sampling of some of the responses to the story from Twitter:
