CNN panelist calls out Kamala Harris for her ‘brazen lie’ about slavery in FL history curriculum

Vice President Kamala Harris has grabbed ahold of the left’s latest big lie and is running with it, but CNN’s Scott Jennings did his best to trip her up with a fact check that didn’t go over well with his fellow panelists.

Harris has been the most high-profile figure to claim that the new Florida history teaching standards not only erase black history but also promote the idea that slavery was actually a good thing for those enslaved. This brazen falsehood has fed a concocted narrative based on one cherry-picked sentence out of a 200+ page document which was distorted by the left-wing propaganda machine.

On Sunday morning’s edition of “State of the Union,” two days after the veep traveled to Jacksonville, FL to stir up black resentment against Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education, Jennings called BS on Harris’s twisting of the truth and her race-baiting, the bread and butter of the modern Democratic Party.

Following remarks by CNN political contributor Karen Finney, a former senior advisor for Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 campaign who sang Harris’s praises for having “channeled what people are feeling” with her “best moment” about slavery being beneficial, Jennings jumped in.

“Well, it’s amazing to me that how little Kamala Harris has to do that she can read something on Twitter one day and be on an airplane the next to make something literally out of nothing. This is a completely made-up deal,” he said, as the look on Finney’s face turned sour.

“I looked at the standards, I even looked at an analysis of the standards, in every instance where the word slavery or slave was used. I even read the statement of the African American scholars that wrote the standards,” he continued. “Not Ron DeSantis, but the scholars. Everybody involved in this says this is completely a fabricated issue and yet look at how quickly Kamala Harris jumped on it. So the fact that this is her best moment, a fabricated matter, is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.”

The vice president first got attention for her playing fast and loose with the Florida facts during a speech to black sorority members at the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority National Convention in Indianapolis last week where she told the audience that they were being gaslighted by “extremist” Republicans as she gaslighted them about the history curriculum.

“Just yesterday, in the State of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” she said.

“They insult us in an attempt to gaslight us, and we will not stand for it,” Harris said as the audience applauded, “we who share a collective experience in knowing we must honor history and our duty in the context of legacy.”

What Harris was referring to was the sentence, “Instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit” which appeared twice in the densely packed 216-page document, a line that lying politicians and activists in the media exaggerated and distorted to mischaracterize the entirety of the new academic standards.

Harris continued to lean into the big lie with a tweet of her boarding an airplane for her flight to Jacksonville, on her way to fight the “extremists” who “want to erase our full history and censor our truths.”

Jennings later took to Twitter to post a link to an article with the analysis that he was referring to, a National Review piece titled “Kamala Harris Is Brazenly Lying about Florida’s Slavery Curriculum” by Charles C. W. Cooke.

“This is a brazen lie. It’s an astonishing lie. It’s an evil lie. It is so untrue — so deliberately and cynically misleading — that, in a sensible political culture, Harris would be obligated to issue an apology. Instead, NBC confirms that she will repeat the lie today during a speech in Jacksonville,” Cooke wrote after quoting her words from the Indy speech, going on to thoroughly debunk it.

“Extremists here in Florida passed a law, ‘Don’t Say Gay,’ trying to instill fear in our teachers that they should not live their full life and love who they love,” Harris said during her remarks in Jacksonville. “And now, on top of all of that, they want to replace history with lies. Middle school students in Florida to be told that enslaved people benefited from slavery.”

Just another example of how Democrats no longer bother themselves with even pretending that they’re telling the truth because they know that they will never be fact-checked by the corrupt media unless someone like Jennings goes rogue.
