Stephen Colbert’s unintentionally hilarious quip exposed how the public really feels about CNN.
He was doing a segment on “The Late Show” with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins where the pair discussed President Joe Biden dropping out of the race, Vice President Kamala Harris jumping into the race, and the media’s relationship with Donald Trump. At one point Colbert attempted to compliment the network on being “objective” which his New York City audience found humorous.
“I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is,” he said, prompting laughter.
Not even NYC lefties buy CNN as objective. @colbertlateshow audience laughed when Stephen #Colbert asserted: “I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is” @KaitlanCollins: “That supposed to be a laugh line?” Colbert: “It wasn’t supposed to be” pic.twitter.com/IfqNEDPrfa

“No, no no —” Colbert tried to correct the chuckling crowd. “CNN makes a…”
“Was that supposed to be a laugh line?” Collins asked.
“It wasn’t supposed to be, but I guess it is,” the host responded before quickly getting back to his previous question.
X users also had plenty to say about the interaction.
These people like @kaitlancollins need to be laughed out of the room every time they open their mouth… “Was that supposed to be a laugh line?” Your career as a “journalist” is a laugh line.

An actual journalist would be embarrassed by this but not @kaitlancollins, she takes pride in the fact people know she works for a propagandist organization.

Why is she even on this show?

The fact that “news anchors” are treated as celebrities, tells you everything you need to know.

She speaks about Trump the way campy woman authors who don’t understand men try to describe men.

He is rather unaccustomed to laugh lines these days. Only when he’s not trying.
