Columbia University miscreants to protest Veteran’s Day, rename it ‘Martyrs Day’

Columbia University students are set to protest Veteran’s Day, the latest temper tantrum from the entitled leftist brats at the elite Ivy League institution of higher learning.

According to a flyer posted online, the student group Columbia University Apartheid Divest will “reclaim” the federal holiday set aside in honor of the nation’s military veterans by renaming it “Martyrs Day” in honor of Palestinians “martyred by Israel-US war machine” in Gaza.

“Veterans Day is an American holiday to honor the patriotism, love of country, and sacrifice of veterans,” the flyer reads.

“We reject this holiday and refuse to celebrate it,” the activists state. “The American war machine should not be honored for the horrors unleashed on others.”

“Instead, we will celebrate Martyrs Day in honor of those martyred by the Israel-US war machine. A day to honor the patriotism, love of country, and sacrifice of those martyrs,” the pro-terrorist miscreants added.

The event is set to go down on Monday at the New York City-based university’s Morningside Heights campus. It’s a big middle finger to those who have laid their lives on the line for their freedom to engage in disrespectful antics.

Student veterans expressed outrage and are planning their own event to counter the anti-American protesters.

“That post really shook the hornet’s nest,” 31-year-old Air Force veteran Sam Nahins told the New York Post.

“They’ve never hid their disdain for veterans. But now it’s really out in the open,” added the graduate student. “Last year when students and faculty members were running around dressing up as jihadist and screaming death to America, death to western civilization, death to everything but their cause, I had friends get called infidels, and murderers and baby killers.”

Columbia was ground zero for the ugly outburst of anti-Semitism that erupted after the cowardly attack on Israeli civilian areas by members of the Hamas terror organization last October. Over 1,200 Israelis were slaughtered, many of them butchered in their own homes with the Islamist savages reportedly displaying their body parts like prized trophies. Others were taken hostage with some later being executed by the group.

After Israel retaliated with a military operation to clean the murderous scum out of Gaza, Columbia U. students reacted by siding with the terrorists. They also marked the one-year anniversary of the massacre by celebrating the murder, rape, and kidnapping of Jews.

“Columbia is proud of our students, faculty, and staff who are veterans, and we are grateful for their service and sacrifice and the invaluable contributions they offer to our community,” a campus spokesperson told the New York Post. “The University honors its veterans on Veterans Day and every day, and we are proud to be participating in the New York Veterans Day Parade tomorrow, as we have for more than a decade.”

“We are aware that a small group has called for a demonstration tomorrow, and our public safety team is monitoring for any disruptions to campus activity. As always, we are committed to preserving our core mission to teach, create, and advance knowledge,” added the spox.

“Any effort to dishonor our veterans is disgraceful and must be confronted head-on. Columbia University cannot allow these un-American terrorist supporters to insult the brave men and women who defended our freedoms,” Queens Councilman Robert Holden told the Post.

“These lunatics will not reclaim Veterans Day — not today, not ever,” he vowed.
