Cory ‘Spartacus’ Booker announces he’s engaged – to a woman

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) announced his engagement on Tuesday, and it inspired some ribbing from X.

Booker is somewhat known for being a congressional bachelor, but it appears that is no longer the case. Taking to social media, the man nicknamed “Spartacus” revealed that he and his partner, Alexis Lewis, are now set to be married.

Look:

“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” he gushed in the Facebook post’s caption. “I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged! I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée.”

“We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful community lifting us in love and commitment.”

According to local media outlet NJ.com, the pair have been dating for 16 months.

While many took the time to congratulate Booker on starting his family life journey, others couldn’t help but be a little sarcastic in their replies. Many prodded at previous speculation that Booker might even be gay:
