Crickets from media on horrific mass shooting at sweet 16 birthday party. Why?

Right-wing critics are growing increasingly angry over the limited liberal commentary about the latest major mass shooting in America.

During the shooting, which occurred earlier this month in Dadeville, Alabama, 30 innocent people sustained shooting injuries, while four were outright killed. Moreover, investigators reportedly found 89 shell casings at the scene and are confident that a total of seven guns were fired during the mass shooting.

Yet despite the large number of injuries, casualties, weapons, and ammo, the mass shooting has been the topic of few discussions and even fewer outraged columns.

Conservatives would like to know why.

“No one is talking about the recent shooting in Alabama. Complete silence! 4 teenagers were shot and killed. Over 30 people were injured. These monsters shot up a sweet 16 birthday party but I guess it doesn’t matter since the shooters are black,” conservative comedian Terrence K. Williams tweeted Wednesday.

“The gun control activist & the mainstream media have nothing to say! These thugs who murdered innocent people were not NRA members or registered gun owners. People are silent because it don’t fit the agenda. Am I RIGHT or Am I Right?”  he added.

What agenda? Well, after a mass shooting by a white male, the media ALWAYS run columns and have discussions about white male violence. But when faced with a mass shooting committed by a black male, it’s evidently an entirely different story.

Or so conservatives believe:

It’s a true, easily observable fact that the media don’t seem to pay that much attention to black-on-black crime violence and mass shootings, as evidenced by their blackout of the horrific murders that occur every single weekend in Chicago. Indeed, to hear the media tell it, speaking honestly about black crime is racist. But speaking honestly about white crime is perfectly OK.

Now in fairness, the media haven’t been completely ignoring what happened in Alabama. In fact, CNN ran an unbiased report about it just this Wednesday.

“State investigators found 89 shell casings and believe seven guns were used at a dance studio shooting that left four people dead during a Sweet 16 party in Dadeville, Alabama, earlier this month,” the outlet reported.

“The six suspects charged in connection with the massacre were denied bond. … Five of the suspects were ordered to be held without bond until the trial and are being treated as adults. … A sixth suspect, who is 15, was also denied bond at a separate hearing because he is a minor,” CNN added.

There’s also been a little gun-control commentary from “CBS Mornings,” where on Monday, co-anchor Tony Dokoupil “singled out Alabama, Missouri, and Texas (the locations of recent mass shootings) for not requiring residents to obtain permits to buy rifles and shotguns,” as reported by NewsBusters.

“In all three of those states, no permit is required to purchase a rifle, to purchase a shotgun, or to purchase a handgun,” Dokoupil complained.

And so to be clear, the media are covering the shooting:

Other than for this raw coverage, though, there’s been nothing. There’s certainly been no race-based discussions and commentary, be it from CNN, MSNBC, CBS News, or even from the ladies of “The View.”
