Critics are beyond outraged over a new report revealing that President Joe Biden is quietly negotiating a “mega-deal” with Saudi Arabia.
“Senior Biden advisers quietly visited Saudi Arabia last week to continue talks on a potential mega-deal that could include a peace agreement between the kingdom and Israel,” the report from Axios reads.
But the outrage isn’t directed so much at the president as it is at his sycophantic media allies who, only years earlier, disparaged then-President Donald Trump for also trying to seek some sort of peace deal with the Middle Eastern nation.
“Remember the rage when Trump maintained friendly relations with Saudi Arabia and Egypt: never before had an American president embraced such brutal tyrants, the US media said with a straight face,” one critic, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald, tweeted shortly after the report broke Wednesday.
In an additional tweet, he also panned the media for making a big fuss over athletes and other influencers who choose to do business with Saudi Arabia.
Look:
Remember the rage when Trump maintained friendly relations with Saudi Arabia and Egypt: never before had an American president embraced such brutal tyrants, the US media said with a straight face.
Exploiting that, Biden vowed to make MbS a “pariah.”

One of the most ridiculous and laughable things I’ve ever seen is sanctimonious US and British sports journalists criticizing athletes and sports leagues for doing business with Saudi Arabia.
Are they aware it’s their governments that single-handedly prop up the Saudi regime? pic.twitter.com/uA6oYfYvUv

As seen above, Greenwald also took a slap at Biden by noting that he’d campaigned for president in part on the promise that he’d treat Saudi Arabia like a “pariah” state.
Regarding the media, NewsBusters notes that the major networks all dismissed Trump’s peace deal with Saudi Arabia as nothing more than “a business deal” at the time.
To hear them tell it, the deal wasn’t a true “peace deal” because the nations involved weren’t technically at war — though FYI, they’d been feuding for decades — and because the nations involved still had other enemies.
“Before the ink was dry, there were already signs that Israel still has enemies in the region and they aren’t celebrating,” CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell “reported,” suggesting that the existence of the Palestinians meant the deal was moot.
“And at the White House, today, Israel and two Arab nations signed a new diplomatic agreement that will normalize relations and bring them closer together. But as Andrea Mitchell reports, a broader Middle East peace is still an elusive goal,” NBC’s Lester Holt likewise “reported.”
“But today’s agreements open the doors for trade, travel, and tourism. But it is not Middle East peace. Left out, the Palestinians, abandoned by their Arab neighbors, powerless to do anything but protest,” MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell added.
This was just their TV rhetoric. The online headlines were far worse.
“Trump ‘peace’ deals for Israel, UAE and Bahrain are shams. They boost oppression, not amity,” a headline from NBC News reads.
“Trump would rather embrace an alleged murderer than have Ivanka face scrutiny,” a headline from The Washington Post likewise reads.
The alleged “murderer” was Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Dovetailing back to the present day, no similar headlines and rhetoric seem to be anywhere, and critics don’t like that. Especially in light of the “pariah” promise that Biden made and clearly failed to keep.
Oh no. How dare he discuss anything with the KSA. I was informed they were a pariah by the MSM.

Nothing like quietly doing business with the folks who funded 9/11 and brutally murdered Jamal Khashogi. Bad look Biden.

What happened to Biden making Saudi Arabia a “pariah”?
Kaitlan has one RT about it and that about covers it.

Ahhh so now meeting with a murderous theocratic dictator that’s kills journalists is ok. Just keeping up with the story the government wants to put out there

We need to be upset when Trump does stuff like this.
We need to be happy when Biden does.
Am I getting that right? I don’t want to be canceled or anything.

Notice the mention of Jamal Khashoggi, the Washington Post reporter whom many suspect was murdered by the Crown Prince’s goons. Following his murder, the media became so angry that Trump continued negotiating with Saudi Arabia that they practically accused him of being the murderer himself.
Meanwhile, no similar accusations have been directed Biden’s way despite his current negotiations with the Crown Prince, and we all know why not …
