Critics pile on after Lizzo says she ‘quits’: ‘It takes everyone to drag her’

Plus-sized pop diva Lizzo stunned fans when she abruptly quit the music business the day after her performance at President Joe Biden’s unseemly New York City fundraiser.

The controversial body positivity queen announced that she was done with it all in a goodbye cruel world post to her Instagram account on Friday, saying that she’s tired of being “dragged” by critics.

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,” the morbidly obese star began.

“But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” Lizzo wrote. “I didn’t sign up for this sh_t. I QUIT✌”

What exactly spurred her abrupt – and likely short-lived – retirement is unknown but it comes after she performed at Biden’s star-studded fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall along with late-night propagandist Stephen Colbert, Queen Latifah, Cynthia Erivo, Ben Platt, and Lea Michele at the gala where Democrat rock stars Bill Clinton and Barack Obama posed for pictures with attendees and the money rolled in.

X users weighed in on Lizzo’s stomping off and it was brutal.

Some were skeptical that she really meant it and was just seeking attention for her quitting.

The Grammy Award winner has been dogged by controversy over claims by former dancers that she forced them to engage in sexually demeaning behavior, including pressuring them to eat a banana out of a stripper’s vagina at a live sex show.

“It’s shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this amid such egregious allegations,” said Ron Zambrano. the attorney representing the former dancers who are suing the singer, blasting the Democrats for featuring her at Biden’s fundraiser.

“Without getting into the politics, I can’t imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way, given her reprehensible behavior,” he told NewsNation. “It’s just a terrible look.”

Lizzo had previously threatened to quit over people saying mean things about her.

“Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a F–KING FARM. The Love definitely do not outweigh the Hate on social media… all because I’m fat???? This is CRAZY,” she wrote on Twitter, since renamed X, in June 2023.
