One issue has been notably absent from the Texas Democratic Senate primary frontrunners’ conversations about the Austin shooting.
A mass shooting in an Austin, Texas, bar on Sunday morning left three dead and over a dozen wounded, with authorities now believing it could have potentially been motivated by Operation Epic Fury. As BizPac Review previously reported, Chief Lisa Davis of the Austin Police Department stated there were “indicators” from the shooter, identified as Ndiaga Diagne, who was shot dead by local police. These indicators reportedly include a hoodie emblazoned with “Property of Allah” and a second shirt with Iranian colors and a picture of “the Shah,” according to Davis, who may have been referring to either the Shah of Iran or deceased supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed by the joint U.S.-Israeli strike.
Now, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, and James Talarico are focusing on gun control and “prayer” rather than Islamic terrorism as a potential motivation for the mass shooting.

“I frankly am tired of the “thoughts and prayers” rhetoric from our leaders here in Texas and in our nation’s capital. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe prayer changes lives. But there is something profoundly cynical in asking God to solve a problem we’re not willing to solve ourselves,” Talarico said during an MS NOW segment. “I believe God moves, and works through us. God has no other hands but our hands. We prayed, and God sent moms from both political parties to advocate in the halls of power for gun safety. We prayed, and God sent lawmakers with commonsense gun safety proposals like universal background checks, red flag laws, closing the gun show loophole. Scripture reminds us that faith without works is dead — the time for thoughts and prayers is over. It’s time for us to act.”
Meanwhile, over on TikTok, Crockett was trying to make it a race issue.

“Listen, every time there’s some crazy situation like this, black folks sit around and say, ‘Oh, I hope they’re not black,’ because we know that’s going to be an additional target on our backs. We know that the immigrant community was probably holding their breath and saying, ‘Oh, I hope it wasn’t an immigrant,’” the congresswoman said.
Absent in either of their statements was any mention of Islamic extremism. Zach Kraft, an RNC spokesman, slammed the pair for refusing to address the matter.
“Absolutely disgusting stuff. James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett are blaming hardworking Texans who go to church and lawfully own guns, instead of the radical Islamic terrorist who committed this heinous act,” he said.Â
