Dan Abrams warns Trump’s DNI pick is ‘downright dangerous’ and could land him in big trouble

Could President Donald Trump’s pick for acting DNI be dangerous? Dan Abrams seems to think so.

Following Tulsi Gabbard’s departure from the position, Trump selected current Federal Housing Finance Agency head Bill Pulte to fill in. This is a problematic choice for some, as Pulte has pursued allegations of mortgage fraud against some of the people who have targeted the president.

Abrams addressed the issue on his SiriusXM show, saying that he doubts the nominee will pass the Senate confirmation process, but adding the power of the role is quite concerning and he believes that Trump may end up in some trouble after this appointment.

Watch:

“Pulte has no intel experience, none. But the problem isn’t that he’s not qualified, right? There are a lot of people who get positions who are not qualified. This is one of these guys who is uniquely disqualified or disqualifying. And that’s why the president wants him in the role,” Abrams said. “The Director of National Intel oversees 18 agencies, all right? Has access to all of the nation’s greatest secrets. That’s why the president wants Bill Pulte there. So he can go after the president’s political enemies.”

“How do we know? Well, he’s already done it. You know, he’s been overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He’s been using those databases to access the mortgage records of the president’s political opponents. And he’s the one who’s forwarded criminal referrals to the DOJ for the Federal Reserve Governor, Lisa Cook, for Eric Swalwell, Leticia James, Adam Schiff. This isn’t just bad. It’s downright dangerous. And I’m going to go a step further and say I think this is going to be really bad for President Trump,” he continued. “I think this guy is going to get him in trouble. What do I mean by that? The president clearly wants him to have access to as much information on his political opponents and enemies as possible, potentially to use it in improper ways, is my theory.”

“And that’s exactly the sort of stuff that got Nixon in trouble. Right now, we’re in a different world. In the world we live in today, in the media environment we live in today, Nixon wouldn’t have resigned. But in the in even in the world we live in today, I think that Pulte is going to do things that cross lines that will be discovered in months or years to come that will hurt President Trump in a significant way.”
