Trending through tragedy, David Hogg’s latest attempt at grandstanding for gun-grabbers backfired spectacularly when his hypotheticals were defeated by his own admission of reality.
Like a bat-signal for buffoonery, reports of a firearm being used to commit evil in the United States drew the Harvard-educated Hogg out for his latest foray in meting out social justice. Attempting to score quick points over the massacre that took place in Maine, a Sunday morning post on X was readily shown debase those seeking to erode the Second Amendment.
Though not readily apparent to the radical activist, Hogg linked to a report from ABC News about an attempted purchase by the murder suspect from a firearms dealer that current laws prohibited from taking place as he wrote, “The Maine shooter was unable to obtain a silencer a couple months ago because when he filled out the form to obtain the silencer he was asked if he had ever been committed to a mental institution to which he checked yes.”
“The gun show then refused to sell him the silencer,” he added with speculation, “Who knows how many more would have died if the law were not in place.”

As the owner of Coastal Defense Firearms had told ABC News of the suspect, “Our staff was fantastic, let him finish filling out the form, and said, ‘I’m sorry, Mr. Card, we cannot give you this…at this point in time, we cannot release this silencer to you because of the answers that you’ve given us.”
Seemingly lost on Hogg, but picked up on by social media, was the simple fact that “when the law is enforced, it actually does work.”
Thanks for proving that when the law is enforced, it actually does work @davidhogg111

So laws work when enforced…how about that…

You just pointed out he was a prohibited person. He failed his background check. You just said he failed his background check.

Good thing he was honest on the form… so a rule worked when it was interacted with correctly… the reason we stay armed in the desert is no one from south of our border cares about those rules. Come to any gun store in Phoenix and observe. You never will because it won’t impress…

By now the failed pillow entrepreneur might be used to a track-record of flops, but that didn’t stop others from calling out his “default position to ‘Double down on Stupid.'”
As one X user contended, “Thanks for pointing out the problem’s with the background check system. When you fail it because you are not legally allowed to buy a firearm or NFA (National Firearms Act-regulated) device you don’t get checked out by the police or arrested. You want more laws that will be ignored simply because you can’t accept the reality that the current laws are not working.”
“Why is your default position to ‘Double down on Stupid’ when you could look at facts and recognize that it’s not the guns,” he went on. “[It’s] the failed culture and mental health crisis in America. Fix those and these types of crimes will be significantly reduced.”

To further emphasize the refusal to acknowledge that the laws on the books truly only restrain those who abide by the law, others pointed out the silence from Hogg on other crimes committed with guns since the tragedy in Maine and asked, “Why is that?”
Weird you aren’t posting about the Tampa or Chicago shootings last night? Why is that?

David Hogg thinks criminals obey laws

Still more users tacked on to the use of the term silencer over suppressor or simply poked fun at Hogg’s latest whiff in support of the leftist agenda.
Silencer don’t silence anything buddy… life isn’t a movie
— ClownWorld (@ClownWorld55) October 29, 2023
Why would a silencer lead to more deaths??
— Axiomatic Enemy of the State (@DeTocqueville14) October 29, 2023
So you’re saying gun laws don’t work and a silencer is insignificant if people have it in their hearts to do harm? ♂️ pic.twitter.com/IOZhMagHls
