Delta threatens to boot Grammy-nominated gospel vocalist over impromptu on-board performance

A self-promoting gospel singer’s unsolicited, impromptu on-board performance attempt nearly got her booted from a flight as she wondered at requests to stop.

In a video posted to her own social media account Friday, 36-year-old vocalist Bobbi Storm could be seen in a confrontation with a Delta flight attendant ahead of takeoff as she boasted, “I’m charting right now on the billboards.”

Taking to Instagram, the video that showed her standing in the aisle and being confronted by a Delta employee who later identified himself as the flight leader, was captioned, “At the end of the day God is glorified!!!! Tell me, how are you choosing love on purpose??? Blessings to you all from your #FearlessFlightSinger.”

Moments after she agreed to sit, Storm insisted, “The seatbelt sign is off. It’s not a disturbance,” as the attendant drew near to make sure she was following instructions. However, when he turned away, she continued to address passengers, “I used to sing on planes a long time ago. I just found out I’m up for two Grammys. My very first time, you guys.”

After earning some applause from those near her, the vocalist, a contributor on “The Maverick Way” compilation album from Maverick City Music, continued, “I sing for the Lord, and my song is out on all platforms. It’s called ‘We Can’t Forget Him.'”

“I wanna share this with you guys,” Storm added before the attendant returned and asked, “Are you going to be quiet?”

“But they’re enjoying,” she tried as he informed her, “I’m not enjoying it. So I’m asking you, can you be quiet?”

Indicating it was a “yes or no” question, the singer replied, “Am I gonna go to jail if I don’t?”

Invoking God in her response, she insisted, “I’m doing what the Lord is telling me to do,” and as the Delta employee sought her compliance, Storm instead turned to the passengers, attempting to get them to rally in support of her performing.

It was then that she was told, “If you are not able to follow my instruction, you will not be taking this flight.”

The video continued with her agreeing, “If that’s the case, then that’s fine,” as she proceeded to sing anyway for those closest to her. She returned to Instagram Saturday to assert, “There was no rules being broken. It was just me spreading my joy with people after they gave me the go to do so.”

Further claiming that Delta had apologized to her for the interaction, Storm wrote, “Case closed and again GOD GETS THE GLORY!!!!!…Thank you @delta executives for reaching out and making this right with me !!!” as she contended she didn’t want the attendant to lose his job and, “I just hope that if he watches this, he’s able to learn a valuable lesson on how to treat other people.”

Despite her much-touted opinion of herself, many social media users did not react positively to her behavior in the video as they decried the “narcissism at its finest” and sneered at her show of “entitlement.”
