Dem mayor seems unaware of shutdown, wants to know why Trump can’t just hire more TSA agents

An anti-ICE mayor’s proposed solution in response to a supposed “threat” from the president on Democrat shutdown-induced airport struggles showed, “Reality is not a Democrat strong point.”

More than five weeks after leftist politicians refused to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), airport woes have only intensified as unpaid Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees shifted from calling out sick to calling it quits.

As President Donald Trump promised to deploy U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to support those sticking out the latest Democrat shutdown, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) was left unchecked by corporate media over his cockamamie counter-solution to simply hire more TSA agents.

Appearing on MS NOW’s “The Weekend,” co-host Jonathan Capehart presented Trump’s plan to use ICE at airport security as a “threat” as he sought a reaction from the mayor who began, “When he says that he’s gonna do security like no one has ever seen before, he doesn’t actually mean that he’s going to keep people secure. If the goal here was safety at airports, he could hire out more TSA agents that do an incredible job at keeping our airports safe.”

“If the goal was keeping our streets safe and our cities [safe], he would work with cities around hiring additional police officers and creating the kind of safety infrastructure that we need to keep people safe,” continued Frey, unchallenged on his suggestion beyond the present capability of the president. “But of course, we all know that’s not the goal. The goal is to terrorize people. And for someone that states that they care so much about bringing the economy back — causing a ton of fear in airports, preventing the kind of safe air travel that we need for commerce, is not a good mechanism to do it.”

As a reminder, this is the same Minneapolis mayor who was in charge during the “fiery, but mostly peaceful” riots across the Twin Cities following the death of George Floyd in police custody. It was then that the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd precinct house was abandoned to burn, prompting many officers to leave the force.

On Saturday, Trump called out the ongoing refusal by Democrats to fund DHS as he promised on Truth Social, “If the Radical Left Democrats don’t immediately sign an agreement to let our Country, in particular, our Airports, be FREE and SAFE again, I will move our brilliant and patriotic ICE Agents to the Airports where they will do Security like no one has ever seen before, including the immediate arrest of all Illegal Immigrants who have come into our Country, with heavy emphasis on those from Somalia, who have totally destroyed, with the approval of a corrupt Governor, Attorney General, and Congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, the once Great State of Minnesota. I look forward to seeing ICE in action at our Airports.”

He also stated, “The Radical Left Democrats have hurt so many people with their vicious and uncaring ways. What they have done to the Department of Homeland Security, our fantastic TSA Officers, and, most importantly, the great people of our Country, is an absolute disgrace.”

“If the Democrats do not allow for Just and Proper Security at our Airports, and elsewhere throughout our Country, ICE will do the job far better than ever done before! The Fascist Democrats will never protect America, but the Republicans will,” added the chief executive, who went on, “I look forward to moving ICE in on Monday, and have already told them to, ‘GET READY.’ NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE GAMES!”

Meanwhile, responses to the proposal to simply hire more agents called out Frey for being unmoored from reality.
