A Democratic Party congressman who has infuriated Biden loyalists with his call for a changing of the guard encouraged potential challengers to the geriatric White House occupant.
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) appeared on NBC’s Sunday morning flagship “Meet the Press” where he told outgoing host Chuck Todd that while he personally “adores” President Joe Biden, it’s time to “pass the torch” to a younger generation.
The left-wing lawmaker, who has previously been reluctant to give names of Democrat swing state governors who could be a viable alternative to the deeply unpopular Biden said that there are four whom he feels are up to the task of leading the party forward.

“I would like to see a moderate governor, hopefully from the heartland, from one of the four states that Democrats will need,” he said as Todd rattled off the names of possibilities including Michigan lockdown queen Gretchen Whitmer and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker who has presided over the steep decline of the “Land of Lincoln” during his tenure at the helm.
Also in the mix is his home state governor, Minnesota’s Tim Walz, and Gov. Tony Evers, and there is the possibility that Phillips himself could throw his hat into the ring.
“Anybody who wants to run, Joe Manchin, Cornel West… that’s why we have primaries because that doesn’t undermine the likelihood of returning, in this case, a Democrat to the White House. I’m actively inviting, encouraging to some degree, imploring, that people who are ready and know it’s probably time to do so take the chance,” he told Todd.

Phillips also appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” where he told Biden cheerleader Jake Tapper, “I just think that we should be mindful of history, recognize the consequences of not having a backup plan.”
“Because one of the core elements of successful leadership is a succession plan, being sure that there’s somebody able, ready to go,” he said. “And I’d like to see the president actually invite people to the primary stage…there are people ready to go, governors in particular, moderate governors in the heartland…”
Lisa Boothe of Fox News recently stated that the party would “love” to “get rid” of the octogenarian Biden but realize that they would then be “stuck” with his even more incompetent and unlikable veep Kamala Harris.
“I saw a recent poll where even 50% of Democrats wanted a different nominee in the 2024 election. I think I’ve seen the number as high as 75%, right? So they’d love to get rid of him, but then you’re stuck with Kamala Harris and so that presents an interesting scenario for them,” Boothe explained. “How do you get rid of both of them? I mean, Kamala Harris is the least popular vice president in American history, even less popular than Dick Cheney after he shot someone. So that’s saying something [and] that’s the challenge for them.”
She also said that Democrats find themselves in a predicament because a third-party run could potentially cost them control of the White House.
Boothe’s “The Big Weekend Show” co-host Joe Concha suggested that a challenge to Biden would be a “fool’s errand” because the DNC has already gone to the effort to rig the process in his favor by announcing that he would not participate in debates against potential challengers.
The DNC also reshuffled the primary schedule to move South Carolina and the state’s heavily black electorate to the front of the line to give the race-baiting Biden an early momentum boost.
