Dem who helped AOC’s rise says she’s now like the invisible woman in crime-ridden district

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is practically an invisible woman in a crime-ridden area of her district, said the man who helped the former bartender rise to power.

According to former Democrat committee member for the 39th Assembly District and author Ramon Ramirez Baez, AOC has “betrayed” constituents in the Queens neighborhood that has deteriorated so much during her leadership, that some have likened it to a third-world country, awash with street crime and prostitution.

The area along Roosevelt Avenue in Queens has made headlines and has been described as a “red light district” similar to Bangkok, a city with a global reputation for its prostitutes and brothels.

Ramirez Baez recalled to Fox News Digital how he helped the then-unknown firebrand in her underdog bid against powerful incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley who she shocked in the 2018 Democrat primary, catapulting her to national stardom.

He said that at the time, he introduced the political novice who pledged to work hard for the people in the Corona, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights areas and to be an “on-the-ground presence for them, unlike career politician Crowley, who at that point was a 10-term incumbent and eyeing to be the next House speaker,” according to Fox News.

The future “Squad” leader came to Ramirez Baez at a time when she only had $39,000 and was facing a monumental task against Crowley who was flush with a war chest of around $2 million.

AOC’s fortunes soon took a turn for the better when the Dominican immigrant introduced her to local business owners and ponied up the money to pay for the debate venue and even though Crowley was a no-show, Ramirez Baez told the outlet that it “swung the momentum” to her.

“I paid for that debate, I have an invoice for everything I did for Ms. Alexandria,” he said, displaying a document. Ramirez Baez also said that he has documented all of her campaign expenses in one of his books.

He said that since her election, she’s been no better than Crowley.

“We never saw that lady, never, she disappeared,” Ramirez Baez said. “She [didn’t] do anything for the community, nothing, nothing.”

“She disappeared from my community. You never saw Alexandria in my community, nobody saw her in her office. All the time closed,” he told the outlet, referring to her office in Queens.

“What happened? You have to be [in the] community to do an event,” he said. “She never did any event. I never saw Alexandria come to do a town hall meeting, to listen to the community, nothing. She disappeared.”

“She goes all over the place, like a movie star, she goes to Texas, all over the place, but what about the community?” Ramirez Baez asked.

He said that he was unaware of her socialist leanings at the time, and now has buyer’s remorse over backing her political rise.

“If she said to me, she is socialist, I would never support it,” Ramirez Baez told Fox News Digital.

“She only defends the socialist agenda, which is not for the American people. … She doesn’t understand what [socialism] means,” he said, adding that he understands it well from living in Cuba and the Soviet Union. “She was a little confused in her head, confused in that ideology.”

“The Democrats opened the border, and a lot of people that nobody knows have come. Alexandria was in Texas [saying] ‘Come on, people from New York have the money,’ and that’s why right now you have that situation in our neighborhood,” Ramirez Baez said.

The lifelong Democrat also told the outlet that he voted for President-elect Donald J. Trump and urged others in the district to do the same.

He also wrote a letter to the congresswoman in October that he shared with the outlet, shaming her for the deterioration of the area.

“I remember you questioning the integrity of other politicians and their promises. My support and collaboration helped you secure your victory. I believed you would champion the best interests of our community, I was wrong,” he wrote in the October 23 letter.

“Watching your career unfold, I saw you more focused on staying in the spotlight and getting media attention than on real issues facing your constituents. While you travel across the country and engage in various performances, our community continues to struggle. Your appearance in high-fashion attire stands in stark contrast to the hardships our hard-working people endure,” he added, now saying that he’s compelled to apologize to the community for backing her.

“Roosevelt Avenue … has become a hub for brothels outnumbering bodegas. It is an urban crime zone. Yet, you advocate for the legalization of prostitution and anti-police policies. You ignore the fact that over 70 brothels operate near local schools and houses of worship. You have failed to even speak about the crime that affects our neighborhood and you failed to protect the vulnerable women exploited by these criminal networks,” he wrote.

“Your version of socialism has been a farce. You have never delivered for your community. While you campaign for others throughout the country you don’t see the severe damage your misguided positions have done to our community and your political party,” Ramirez Baez told the Democrat diva in his letter.

AOC has yet to respond.
