Dems are losing working class voters, says Katie Couric: ‘They can’t just give up on that voting bloc’

Former “Today” host Katie Couric, a so-called “journalist,” warned this week that Democrats have lost the working class.

Appearing on the “Hysteria” podcast with former Obama White House deputy chief of staff Alyssa Mastromonaco, the leftist fretted that Democrats have lost the working class and need to do more to win them back, as reported by the New York Post.

“I think that there needs to be a greater connection between the working class and the Democratic Party because, let’s face it…the Democrats have kind of lost the working class,” she said. “It was never that way during all my years of covering politics.”

“You had the head of the Teamsters at the RNC, you have people buying into this notion that Republicans care about dinner table issues much more than Democrats. And these narratives, I think, have become too deeply entrenched about liberal college-educated elites who are condescending,” she added.

She continued by calling for Democrats to form a “much stronger connection” with the working class and for presidential candidate Kamala Harris in particular to cater her message to “regular Joes.”

“They can’t just give up on that voting bloc…[they should say] ‘Hey, we care about you, we care about your issues, we know a lot of things have really been hard…but this is how we’re going to help,'” she said. “I just want to see her [Kamala] with a welding hat on, working with regular Joes.”

Democrats could say all those things, but they’d be lying. The facts make it clear that their policies under President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris have been absolutely devastating to the working class:

Now just imagine how much worse they’d be under President Harris

Indeed, Justin Haskins, the director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute, warned in a recent Fox News column that if elected president, Harris’ “administration would likely be the most socialist and destructive in our country’s history.”

“Biden has been one of America’s most progressive presidents, but Harris’s past policy positions are even further to the left of those backed by Biden,” he explained. “In fact, if Harris were to become president, it’s fair to say that she would be the first democratic socialist candidate to fill the position in the 248-year history of the United States.”

He pointed to her past support for the Green New Deal, for Medicare-for-All as just two of many, many, many more examples.

“America simply cannot afford Harris’s radical vision for the country.,” he wrote. “And even if it could, putting the dysfunctional, inefficient, corrupt federal government in charge of virtually every part of our lives, from health care to the kinds of cars we can drive, should be avoided at all costs.”

Meanwhile, critics have responded to Couric’s remarks by arguing that the Democrats don’t give a damn about the working class.
