House Democrats have released a COVID report ostensibly debunking almost everything in their Republican colleagues’ report.
As previously reported, this week Republicans on the House Select Subcommittee released a 520-page report on the Coronavirus Pandemic concluding, among other things, that COVID-19 “most likely emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China,” despite attempts by U.S. and Chinese government officials to claim otherwise.
The report also slammed former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) boss Dr. Anthony Fauci for encouraging the writing of an academic paper designed to undermine the lab leak theory.
And the report slammed schools and teachers’ unions for keeping children locked down and out of class during the COVID pandemic.

But despite the report being produced following an extensive two-year investigation that involved 30 transcribed interviews/depositions and 25 hearings/meetings, Democrats say its findings are nearly ALL bull.
“During the 118th Congress, the Republican-led Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic fueled extreme narratives vilifying America’s public health officials, scientists, and teachers,” the Democrats’ tiny, 61-page report reads.
“Instead of putting people over politics, Select Subcommittee Republicans prioritized partisan probes over meaningful opportunities to strengthen future pandemic prevention and preparedness and save future lives,” it continues.
The Democrats contend that, instead of trying to discern the actual truth and hold badly acting individuals accountable, Congress should be busy studying how to handle the next pandemic.
It evidently doesn’t occur to Democrats that the best way to prepare for the next pandemic is to closely review the mistakes of the past one to ensure that these mistakes are never repeated again.

“Select Subcommittee Republicans’ final report reflects two years wasted on political stunts instead of preventing and preparing for the next pandemic,” a spokesperson for committee Democrats told The Hill.
“Instead of coming together with Democrats to get ahead of future viruses or fortify America’s public health infrastructure and workforce, Select Subcommittee Republicans prioritized extreme probes that vilified our nation’s scientists and public health officials in an effort to whitewash former President Trump’s disastrous COVID-19 response,” they added.
Speaking of whitewashing, Democrats went to bat hard for Dr. Fauci in their own report.
“Dr. Fauci did not organize a lab leak suppression campaign,” a summary of the report reads. “He did not orchestrate the Proximal Origin paper, he did not bribe that paper’s authors with federal funding, and he did not direct National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) staff to manipulate public media coverage of the issue.”
“Dr. Fauci did not lie to Congress regarding gain-of-function research at WIV. Dr. Fauci’s prior Senate testimony explicitly referred to the regulatory definition of the term ‘gain-of-function,’ rather than to an informal usage of the term, and his testimony was accurate in that respect,” the summary continues.
Yet the actual facts seem to clearly disprove the Democrats’ narrative:
Never forget when Fauci was literally shaking while he lied to Congress (again) about funding Gain of Function research in Wuhan, China.

Democrats also downplayed the idea of the lab leak theory, arguing that it’s equally likely that COVID originated from an animal.
“Today, a zoonotic origin and lab accident are both plausible, as is a ‘hybrid’ scenario reflecting a mixture of the two,” their report reads. “It was repeatedly explained to the Select Subcommittee that all prior epidemics and pandemics, as well as almost all prior outbreaks, have zoonotic origins. At the same time, a lab origin for SARS-CoV-2 also remains plausible.”
To their credit, House Democrats did at least take disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to task for having “interfered” with the counting of nursing home deaths after he issued an executive order requiring nursing homes to accept COVID patients.
“Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, the [Cuomo] Administration published nursing home deaths on NYSDOH’s website,” the report reads. “The website counted cumulative nursing home deaths up to the date of publication.”
“An audit by the New York State Comptroller found that NYSDOH ‘used alternating methodologies to account for nursing home deaths’ and ‘consistently lacked transparency, and was at times inaccurate, inconsistent, incomplete, and/or not amenable to analysis,'” it continues.
