Congress is officially back from its latest extended vacation and wasted no time in getting down to business, hustling the Jeffrey Epstein hoax with a Republican thorn in President Donald J. Trump’s side joining forces with Democrats.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) hooked up with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) to push the issue of releasing the files related to the notorious sex trafficker and pedophile, jump-starting the ginned-up scandal over an issue that the Democrats couldn’t care less about before Trump returned to office and they sought to weaponize it against him.
The duo announced a Wednesday news conference in which they would trot out a number of Epstein’s victims to build pressure for the release of the files, a move that will wrest back control of the news cycle for Democrats who are desperate to slow the president’s momentum after a series of summer wins.
On Tuesday, the GOP-led House Oversight Committee released more than 33,000 pages of Epstein-related documents that were provided by the Justice Department, but it still isn’t enough for Democrats, who are crying like babies even though they got their way.
Before the files were released, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) complained to Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) that the material doesn’t included the smoking gun that the Democrats and their conspiracy theorist friends in the media have suggested exists, something that could tie Trump to the fiendish Epstein who was found mysteriously dead in his high security federal prison cell in 2019.

“And what you’re telling us is you’re going to release some of the files tonight. If I’ve heard Mr. Garcia correctly, 97 percent of which is already out in public. So, we get three percent that’s new?” McGovern said, referring to grandstanding Peru-born Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), who earlier unveiled the new talking point. “I don’t know what it’s going to say. But I just don’t understand what the big deal is, why can’t the administration just release the files?”
“You could do the investigation, but just release all the files, you know? Trump and the people he put in charge of the FBI and the DOJ promised that they would, and it’s just kind of strange that they haven’t done so yet,” he continued. “I mean, don’t you think? We just want to know what are they trying to hide? Why is this such a difficult thing for them to do?”
Massie, who has been a useful tool for Democrats, is aggressively pushing the issue at a time when Congress has far more serious matters that need to be addressed, perhaps out of spite for Trump, who has publicly called him out on multiple occasions for not being a team player.
On Tuesday afternoon, he filed a rare discharge petition to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files, serving up a gift to Democrats and the media to shame GOP lawmakers who won’t go along with the game.

Later in the day, Massie joined Khanna on left-wing propaganda network MSNBC, where he uncorked the conspiracy theory that Trump is running a cover-up for his “rich and powerful” friends.
After host Chris Hayes suggested that there was something foul afoot in the recent transfer of Epstein’s madame, Ghislaine Maxwell, to a low-security prison facility, he gave the Kentucky Republican the floor to insinuate that the president isn’t being forthcoming with the American people.

“Congressman Massie, you know, one of the things that I find so striking here is that the Bureau of Prisons had to actively sign a waiver to move Ghislaine Maxwell to a facility that is so low security that by the department’s own regulations, she cannot be in,” Hayes said, setting the table for the Trump-hating lawmaker. “And that happens after she met with Todd Blanche, and she said that, you know, Donald Trump was always a perfect gentleman, like, isn’t there a role for some congressional oversight here about how exactly that came about?”
“Oh, absolutely,” replied Massie. “This is unprecedented, the kind of treatment that she’s been given. I think the best way to clear President Trump’s name is to release all the files. I actually don’t think he’s done anything criminal, I think he may be covering for some rich and powerful people that are friends of his.”
“And in fact, some of those billionaires are running ads against me in Kentucky right now,” he added, as Khanna broke out in a devilish smile. “One of them is in Epstein’s black book, so we’re getting close to the center of power here, and I think, you know, embarrassment is not a reason to conceal all of this stuff. We’ve got to get it out in the open, regardless of whose friends might be incriminated.
Massie expressed confidence that he’ll get the votes for his discharge petition.
“I’m not really engaged in a massive whipping effort. I just assume we’ll get the votes,” the congressman told reporters on Tuesday.
“Helping Thomas Massie and Liberal Democrats with their attention-seeking, while the DOJ is fully supporting a more comprehensive file release effort from the Oversight Committee, would be viewed as a very hostile act to the administration,” an unnamed White House official told CNN, according to the network.
