Democrats are poised to force a shutdown of the federal government to stick it to President Donald J. Trump and seem to have few qualms about the tens of millions of Americans who will be left as collateral damage of their scorched-earth method of governing.
As they continue to plummet in polls while quadrupling down on the wrong side of every 80-20 issue, Senate Democrats are behaving more like suicide bombers than responsible legislators by letting their hatred of the duly elected president trump their obligation to serve the American people.
A shutdown could be less than two weeks away, with Dems looking to solidify support from their maniacal base by rejecting Republican efforts to keep the government running with a “clean” continuing resolution as a stopgap option, signaling that they will refuse to go along in order to send a “message” to Trump.
Republicans are going to put forward a clean, short-term continuing resolution to create more room to move bills through regular order.

Several Democratic senators anonymously told The Hill that the shutdown has been a “chief topic of discussion in recent caucus meetings” as the party grapples with Trump’s successes and their inability to defeat his reform agenda other than to use every dirty trick in the bag to obstruct and delay in the hope that they can retake the House in next year’s midterm elections.
According to the outlet, the unnamed lawmakers said that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), “who took enormous heat from his left flank after voting for a GOP funding bill earlier this year, has not laid out any plan B to avert a shutdown before the Sept. 30 deadline.”
“Donald Trump gave us the middle finger, there is no alternative,” one Democrat senator said, admitting that the party isn’t negotiating in good faith and that their spite is more important than the needs of their constituents.
Another Democrat senator who is too chicken to give their name predicted that a brief government shutdown will be a “win” for the party “even if it doesn’t result in any concrete policy concessions from Republicans,” describing the shutdown as a “message” to the president “that the White House can’t continue to steamroll Congress.”
“Without some accommodation, some compromise, I think there probably will be a shutdown for a period of time,” the anonymous lawmaker told the outlet.
“I hate a shutdown anyway, we don’t have any choice. We can’t go along with what they’re doing,” the Democrat said. “We should use every lever we have, and this is one of the very few levers where we can actually push [Trump].”
“If Trump declares martial law, well, let him be transparent and show the world that’s what he thinks his ultimate goal is,” added the senator. The remarks underscore how radically delusional Democrats have become.
The clock is ticking to avert a shutdown with lawmakers set to blow town for yet another extended break for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, making every minute critical, unless, of course, their objective is to shut it all down.
Republicans are already branding the left-wing party’s recalcitrance as the “Schumer shutdown,” laying the blame for any interruption in government functions squarely at the feet of their leader.
Democrats have a choice to make. They can work with Republicans to pass this clean, nonpartisan measure to fund the government.
Or they can have a #SchumerShutdown, with all that will mean for the American people. The choice is theirs. pic.twitter.com/2iFg1KLoFM

“Democrats have a choice to make. They can work with Republicans to pass this clean, nonpartisan measure to fund the government,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD). “Or they can have a #SchumerShutdown, with all that will mean for the American people. The choice is theirs.”
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), an old-school liberal who has been the only Democrat to break with the party’s communist-style lockstep on several issues, isn’t down with the idea of inflicting punishment on ordinary Americans as a gesture of defiance to Trump.
“They are actively painting themselves into the corner. That’s why I’m deeply concerned there will be a shutdown,” Fetterman was quoted by The Hill. “I won’t be a part of it.”
If the Democrats follow through on the Schumer shutdown, they will own it. Republicans should take every opportunity between now and the midterms to remind Americans what their priorities are.
