Falling short of coddling and narrative reinforcement, leftists raged at CBS News’ Margaret Brennan for daring to question a Democrat leader “like a Newsmax host.”
In case it hadn’t already been clear under the Biden administration, with the attempted start of the fittingly nicknamed Ministry of Truth, controlling the argument down to the language being used is integral to those advancing a Marxist agenda. The fragility of that paradigm was apparent as Nazi comparisons were rushed out and Brennan was slammed as “shameful” after she challenged a partisan claim from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
As commentator and 2024 Democratic National Convention delegate Kaivan Shroff called the exchange, “Scary,” adding, “After Bari Weiss’s takeover of CBS, Margaret Brennan sounds like a Newsmax host in this interview with Hakeem Jeffries,” former MSNBC commentator Keith Olbermann railed, “Really shameful from @margbrennan … Never talked like that to any MAGA liars she’s platformed but happy to do it to Jeffries in an attempt to get Bari Weiss to NOT fire her … Just vacuous and amoral.”
Scary.

The exchange that drew the ire of the left for taking off the kid gloves pertained to Brennan’s challenge of Jeffries’ claims that President Donald Trump would be rigging the 2026 midterm elections.
“You said … ‘There are no election deniers on our side of the aisle.’ You said that back in January,” indicated the host on Sunday’s “Face the Nation,” “But recently, you’ve been using the term ‘rigged elections’ in reference to the upcoming midterms. Democrats were appalled when President Trump used language like that. How do you justify using that now? Doesn’t that undermine faith for voters you need to show up?”
As Jeffries attempted to accuse Republicans of seeking to rig congressional maps to ensure a GOP majority, Brennan fired back, “You know Democrats are also going through gerrymandering and redistricting.”
Like Shroff’s criticism, much of the outrage over the host’s deflation of Jeffries’ talking point was targeted at CBS News’ recently minted Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss amid her concerted effort to do away with perceptions of bias at the network.
In fact, a direct inquiry to the team at “60 Minutes” reportedly left them “with stunned awkwardness” when Weiss asked, “Why does the country think you’re biased?”
The New York Times detailed how, “The staff of ’60 Minutes,’ the nation’s most-watched news program, view their coverage as firmly nonpartisan and reject criticism from President Trump and his allies who argue that it has a liberal slant.”
Allegations of a slant included a lawsuit from the president against the show, its network, and parent company over the editing of its pre-2024 presidential election interview of then-Vice President Kamala Harris that landed Trump $16 million via a settlement.
While other leftists fell back on the tired tactic of accusing everyone they don’t agree with of being a Nazi, the even-minded were pleased to witness an exchange with a semblance of legitimate journalism.

About damn time journalist started asking the right questions!

This is what happens to journalism when a “hall monitor” comes into the mix.

Honey breathe. She asked a completely legitimate question. I know your side isn’t used to any real questions, so that seems tough lol

I see “Face the Nation” has gotten its marching orders from Bari Weiss. The tone in Margaret Brennan’s voice is full of outrage. Can anyone direct me to a clip when Brennan was in high dudgeon with a Republican guest?

I really thought she was a lefty. Turns out she’s just a whore for money. I learn something new every day.

You shouldn’t be involved in politics if you think asking questions like this is “scary.”
Are Republicans the only people we are allowed to ask questions? This isn’t even tough. It’s fair.
Keep coddling your movement and party. It’s not going to end well for you.

If it’s something I disagree with it’s definitely Nazis!

We stopped watching network media because they were lying hacks and a propaganda arm of the democrats. You all stop because a Jewish lesbian expects her journalist to work and be non partisan.
Yeah, this checks.
