Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has some advice for the GOP as America heads into the midterm elections.
The Republican Party has enjoyed a rather thin margin of dominance over the last two years, but DeSantis believes that without significant action, the party will lose it all.

🚨 DeSantis DROPS TRUTH BOMB on GOP:
It’s going to be VERY TOUGH for Republicans in the midterms — even in Florida!

“For Republicans, it’s gonna be a challenge. I think the way the winds are blowing currently, I don’t think it’s insurmountable, but I do think it’s a challenge,” he said. “I remember running in ’18 when it was a blue wave year, it isn’t easy. Because there’s some voters, they’re gonna vote against you because of the ‘R’ next to your name, or the ‘D’, depending which way the wave goes. And some of these people they just hated me, they didn’t know who I was, but ‘Oh [President Donald] Trump endorsed him, I’m against him’ or whatever. So you just have to contend with that, and in Florida, we have built up such an advantage that a lot of people kind of take it for granted. But you know, the minute you start taking things for granted, things can change very quickly.”
“When I got elected, we were a swing state, we were a one-point state. Every major election was on a knife-edge, one point here, one point there. A lot of people thought when I got in, well, it’s gonna move left so he’s gonna have a tough time getting reelected,” the governor continued. “The opposite happened. We had 300,000 more registered Democrats in 2018, now we have 1.4 million more registered Republicans. You’ve never seen a shift that dramatic in seven years, in the modern history of this country.”
“So that’s good, but at the same time, I think we got that because we delivered results. And there were people who were maybe registered Democrats, that’s what their parents were when they were 18, who started looking at what we were doing and [thought] ‘You know what? I’m a Republican. I wanna do that. What’s the- the governor’s a Republican? I’m a Republican.’ People moving down here, I remember when they really started flooding during COVID, I had folks who were Republicans in like Palm Beach County, they’d go to Publix, and they’d find New York license plates, and they’d put flyers in their windshield: ‘Don’t vote down here the way they vote up there. Don’t change Florida.’ We had California license plates showing up, that was really a reality check,” DeSantis recalled, growing more animated. “How are these people gonna vote? Well, here’s the facts, you look at each [of the] 48 states individually, and look at who’s come to Florida since I’ve been governor, every single one of the 48 states, Vermont, Arkansas, California, Illinois, have had more Republicans move to Florida than Democrats have moved to Florida.”
“So I think that’s good momentum, but politics is cyclical. Politics is ‘What have you done for me lately?’ Politics is, anytime you rest on your laurels, something can happen very quickly. So I think the midterms, nationally, there’s obviously headwinds, you gotta figure out ways to overcome it as Republicans. If I were advising people in Congress, I would say, well one way you could maybe change the narrative is actually get off your rear ends and do something for a change because they’re not doing very much,” he said as the crowd applauded.
