Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott both vowed on Wednesday to scoop up any illegal aliens whom the Biden administration dumps in their respective states and drop them off at Democrats’ doorsteps instead.

“If [President Joe] Biden is dumping people, which he has dumped people, they fly them in at 2 in the morning. They haven’t done it lately, but they did it many months ago,” Gov. DeSantis said at an unrelated press conference in Naples.

“We now have money where we can reroute them to sanctuary states like Delaware. And we’re going to do that, to make sure we’re keeping people safe here,” he added, eliciting loud laughter from the crowd of supporters.

They laughed because Delaware happens to be the home state of the very man, President Joe Biden, who’s responsible for illegals being funneled into Florida.

This isn’t the first time the Florida governor has made this threat:

It’s not clear though whether he’s ever actually followed through on it.

Meanwhile in Texas, Gov. Abbott announced a similar plan in response to the Biden administration’s decision to nix Title 42.

“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the administration to Washington, D.C.,” he announced at a presser in Austin.

“We are sending them to the United States capital, where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border. To get that going, I’m going to sign a letter to chief Nim Kidd with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, who will be in charge of this operation.”

Listen:

An official press release from Gov. Abbott’s office states that he’s “directed TDEM to charter buses and flights to transport migrants who have been processed and released from federal custody to Washington, D.C.”

The only catch is that “[t]o board a bus or flight, a migrant must volunteer to be transported and show documentation from DHS.”

The press release also mentions Title 42.

“The Biden Administration’s open-border policies have paved the way for dangerous cartels and deadly drugs to pour into the United States, and this crisis will only be made worse by ending Title 42 expulsions,” it states.

Instituted at the start of the COVID pandemic by then-President Donald Trump, Title 42 prohibits migrants from lawfully petitioning for asylum.

Using Title 42, the then-president managed to drastically reduce border crossings to pre-2019 levels. The trend immediately reversed following Biden’s inauguration  because of the current president’s lax migration policies.

Despite Republicans and even quite a few Democrats arguing that Title 42 is necessary to prevent an even bigger explosion of migrants pouring across the border, the administration intends to nix it anyway beginning on May 23rd.

Note that even a majority of registered voters oppose this decision, according to recent polling:

The elimination of Title 42 is expected to trigger a tsunami of illegal aliens rushing across the border, particularly the Texas border, in a desperate bid to obtain asylum.

“As a result of the CDC’s termination of its Title 42 public health order, we will likely face an increase in encounters above the current high levels,” Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus said in a statement earlier this week.

“There are a significant number of individuals who were unable to access the asylum system for the past two years, and who may decide that now is the time to come,” he added.

And that, according to DeSantis, Abbott and numerous others, is the problem …
